Jay prides themselves on the accuracy of their snow reports but their snowmaking reports are way off the mark.

Saturday they stated:
We took advantage of every second of the cold last night as the guns were howling.

I got to the mountain Friday night and while it was 23 in downtown Jay it was 35 at the mountain and no snow making.

Monday they stated:
Snowmaking will be moving to Green Mountain Boys and Harmony Lane today. The Flyer runs directly over the top of Harmony, so we will not be able to spin the lift.
The guns were going all day on Vermonter all day not Harmony Lane but the Flyer was closed.

This morning:
Snowmaking is still on Green Mountain Boys and Harmony Lane today. The Flyer runs directly over the top of Harmony, so we will not be able to spin the lift. The Flyer will stay closed through Wednesday,
Well how can it continue when it hasn't even started yet. And no way they will be done by Wednesday.

This is not the first time they are way off on the reporting. Overall their snowmaking reports have been way too optimistic and don't seem to get revised to reflect reality.

I guess their Facebook page is more accurate than their email Snow Reports or the web site.

From their Facebook page:
Picked-up another open trail this morning as snowmaking wrapped-up on Vermonter overnight. The guns have moved to upper Northway to lay down a thick blanket over there so note that the section of Northway that runs from Tram summit to the top of the Bonaventure quad will be closed for snowmaking.

Sounds like someone new in the marketing department who isn't clued in. Since when do you not run a lift of snowmaking under it???

That does sound odd.....

As to snowmaking, as mentioned, Jay doesn't set the world on fire with their system. They are pretty slow to recover and IIRC they actually move HKD guns around (requiring time to strip trails and move equipment). Theoretically they get a lot of natural, but they still need snowmaking. I imagine that they will improve their system soon though since they have all of the EB-5 money to invest.

Are they allowed to spend EB-5 money on something that doesnt directly create jobs? Because if the answer is "yes", than I think it's pretty surprising they havent done so already.

Good point. That I don't know, but arguably it is crucial to the business and they could say that using EB-5 funding for the other projects frees up capital for their snowmaking.

We just had a thread Just when I want to Hate Jay Paek praising Jay for there honest snow reports. Thats why I thought it odd that they are so far off on the snowmaking reports.

With the interconnectivity of the world today, there is almost no point for ski resorts to continue to lie to the public.

I can instantly connect with numerous people who skied the same terrain yesterday, or are perhaps even skiing there TODAY.

The lying just ends up pissing off your consumers, not to mention it assumes you must thing they're fools.

To finish out their snowmaking reports for Harmony Lane today's snow report says:

Snowmaking is off of Harmony and onto Ullr's, as we spin 7 of 8 lifts today.**

Well since they never started Harmony Lane is still bare so don't expect the Terrain Park there that they originally promised.

^ I would say they've been the "least conservative" that I've seen in regards to social media and web regarding this storm.
