I wonder where they got their background info. Ginn doesn't own Burke and hasn't been in the picture for three years now.
The resort is owned by Lubert-Adler (Equity Firm formally associated/bank rolled Ginn) and is operated by Crave Real-Estate Ventures.

These aren't really BIG plans either. Building 26 houses is far from what was on the drawing board 6 years ago.

Edit: Trailboss beat me to it.

A "gated community" in Vermont? Wow, those folks really didn't know what they were dealing with.

This was to be Ginn's first ski area project. They learned that running a ski area and developing real estate are two completely different things. Ginn ran golf courses, but not ski areas.

At the same time that they got involved with Burke they bought a mining claim/former mine in Colorado with the intent to develop that into a ski area (Minturn I think was its name). I have no idea what happened to that project.

Thanks FTNEK. I thought that was the deal. Glad to see I got it right.

FWIW Crave seems to be doing a better job. Ski area operations seem to be running very well. That is not to say that Ginn didn't do a few things right. They invested A LOT of money into the area by purchasing land, refurbishing Sherburne Lodge twice, and really sprucing up the resort. The facilities were getting tired. They also did some nice work on snowmaking on the lower mountain. And the first HSQ was a huge improvement. The second one is the icing on the cake. I just hope that they get more snow so that they can have a decent year.

Having press in SKI is cool and everything but frankly if I was Burke I would be pissed that SKI reported the mountain as still being "owned" by Ginn. If potential Camber Heights buyers start looking into Ginn they will find there is a lot of bad press out there surrounding what happened to the company when the real-estate market crashed in 2008.

Any publicity is good publicity. If anything the error reflects poorly on SKI and what it has become. Their articles are just not what they used to be and they just do not do the same fact checking that they once did.
