We had a dump of thick heavy stuff that laid down a decent base two or three weeks back. Honestly its been an impossible year out here in Tahoe. I've spent the better part of the last three weeks in Utah.

But today was all about redemption. A foot when I arrived in the AM, no wind, maybe 7 percent moisture (lighter than anything I had in Utah for sure) and being a Monday very light crowds. Backside opened just before noon, then the snow rolled back in. Tomorrow looks to be good and a little refresh on Wednesday. Kirkwood probably got triple the snow as Heavenly, therefore Heavenly is dead to me for the forseeble future.

Some pics

The steep trees are on if you got that delicate touch:

Lots of cool rock formations, more lines will appear as(if) it fills in:

More trees:

I love blasting through untracked low angle trees:

And then it started snowing:

Taking a little break:

This as I was leaving, therefore tomorrow should be awesome!:

The sun was shing at my house (base of Heavenly)

I love Kirkwood!

damn

I'm so snow starved, I don't think I could sleep tonight if I knew those kind of conditions awaited me tomorrow.

done.....

......reluctantly. It looks so good, it's worthy of two threads

Thanks!

We have been through our share of drought this winter here. I've spent entirely too much money traveling for snow.

You'll get yours New England, and trust me, when it comes it will be that much sweeter.

When it comes to snow, I'm all about instant gratification thank you.

distance between storms does NOT make the heart grow fonder.

And that is the very reason that I may be back in the rockies next winter. I'm not sure as I have the patience to deal with the fiest or famine storms here...

I does feel good after so much groomer skiing!

+1 On the great feeling of finally getting to ride powder after days of riding groomers. Looks pretty nice

Yeah you guys have had a tough time too huh? This will mark my seventh (not in a row) year in the west and definately the strangest. I got some real good stuff in Utah but it was still the lowest snowpack I can recall for January or February. The fact that Loveland just went over a 50 inch base is crazy, many years that happens before x-mas. Spring storms can erase everything, lets hope this fucking high and split flow go away.

Ya it is definitely not what I was expecting when moved out here in December, but we are making the best of it. It seems like it gets a little better everyday. I still believe we will get whats coming.

You will. If not you need to see a full above average year, whole different story. Colorado is not super deep but usually very consistent. I miss it there, I miss Denver.
