Looks like what we have with our room darkening blinds...when you had them cut did you give the exact inside measurement? IIRC the person cutting the blinds usually makes it a bit smaller than the space, otherwise the blinds could scrape the side trim if they don't go down or up exactly evenly.
And I'd go with cten, if you don't like it there's always duck tape.
Nick, I assume these blinds are for your baby son during nap time. Don't teach him to sleep in pitch dark or he will only sleep in pitch dark. Just like folks who are silent during nap time...their babies learn to sleep only in silence. Those are not real world conditions.
If you teach him to live in a fantasy world now, you will all be miserable later on. He will sleep in blinding light if he is tired, just like he will sleep with jackhammers outside if he is tired.
Sage advice, there. An important thing I was told early on- don't do anything now you aren't prepared to keep doing for the rest of your life. Because you'll have to.

My wife is mostly concerned about him waking up when the sun comes up , not naps as much ... but still that was what I said

I don't think the sun has anything to do with it. Little kids have amazing internal clocks. Somehow Hunter knows when its 6.30 am on the dot. Every morning. Without fail. No matter where we are.
We are finding that out all over again with our dogs. The DW gets up at 4:30 during the week and they get antsy for breakfast soon after 5:00. Can be a pain on the weekends, just have to let the younger one complain and go back to sleep.I don't think the sun has anything to do with it. Little kids have amazing internal clocks. I worked the midnight shift for a few years... My windows had aluminum foil over them to block the sun.
