This is step two of the Alpine Zone Battle of the Top Eastern Ski Resorts. In the previous poll, AZoners chose their top three ski resorts in NY, ME, NH and VT, respectively. In this poll the top three resorts in each state will be represented so that AZoners can rank the best resorts in the east. Please rank ALL resorts.

You have until 11/21 to vote. Make your voice heard!!

I think the other polls were better.

The problem with this is, there are #4s and #5s etc... that are better than some here that made the "Top 12".

I hear you. As you may know, my home mountain is Killignton. It's obviously better than Hunter, Loon and several others. But, it is what it is.

It does seem, however, that all the legit players for win honors are listed. So it will be interesting to see the top three. So....VOTE!

Yea, this poll doesn't make sense. Maybe if you expanded it a bit more. But even so... Wildcat and Loon wouldn't compare to any of the top six in VT BUT on the flip side you are also putting Hunter into the top 12 in New England. Ain't never skied there but it doesn't strike me as a top 12 mountain but I was willing to drive a long distance for Whiteface and Gore, not for Hunter though. No Smuggs? No MRG? It doesn't make sense for me to even vote in this one, it doesn't accurately measure anything because of the selective sampling. You might as well put Berkshire East, Jiminy Peak, and Wachusett in there for the three best from MA...

Yeah, some of the better ones like Magic were left out, but then again it wasn't up to Skiersleft to decide the top 12, It was us!

The previous voting didn't decide the "top 12", it decided the best by state as seen by AZ'ers. The point is you can't extrapolate the 12 best in a four state region and only allow the top three per state as options.

I agree...the top 12 are not really the top 12. I don't really care about the top 12. I care about the top three or four. We already ranked the top 50 last year. The sample is weird, but it's not arbitrary. As Boston Bulldog said, we voted for the top in each state. And the top three in each state are pitted against each other. The reason it's weird is because VT is much better than the other states. And NY only has two really good ski areas. In any case, the top three will likely be representative of the best resorts in the opinion of AZoners. Even with the weird sample.

Since I respect your opinion so much, Riv...what about a mulligan with the following sample of 15 for top in the East:

According to the recently released state poll results: Vermont's top 8, NH's top 2, Maine's top 3 and NY's top 2. Do you think this is a decent non-arbitrary 15 that can allow us to vote in a more meaningful way?

NY had other good ski areas, maybe nit as good and snowy as North
Vermont, but we have as good if not better then most of NH and south Vermont, I very happy to ski my local hill in NY with there snow fall and lack of crowds compared to driving hours and spending gas and finding a place to stay. I love my once or twice trip to North Vermont or Maine but I love love skiing my hill in the Catskills.

I'm glad you like the Catskills. I like them too and ski there very often. But there is no way ANY Catskill hill is better than most Southern Vermont hills (and I assume the same is also the case with NH, but I haven't skied NH so can't say for sure). Magic, Stratton and Mt Snow offer way, way, way, way, way, way better skiing than any NY ski area that is not called Whiteface or Gore.

On a Tuesday with few people and the hole hill open and lots of manmade snow, I rather ski Hunter then Stratton or Okemo, for sure.

With all due respect, Scotty...you're nuts. All things being equal, there's no comparison between Stratton and Hunter.

Okay I'm little nutty lol. But if their was a foot of fresh snow and you were the only person on the hill not counting glades, I think you rather be at Hunter's terrain then Stratton, I know I take Hunter terrain over Stratton or Okemo o in that day of fantasy.

there you go again, stating your opinion as the absolute authority.

The man said he likes Hunter better than Stratton. So what? Yet, you have to tell him he's wrong and you're right?

I'm sure there are numerous hardcore Plattekill fans that prefer it over Mt. Snow and Stratton. So what?

You're a huge Killington fanboy. There's at least a dozen ski areas in New England that I'd ski before Killington. Does that make you and other Killington fanboys wrong for thinking it's the best ski area in the East? no.

I like the idea of the top 3 from each state. Sure there might be some from Vermont that would be better than some of the top 3 from other states but who cares. Its like divisions in Sports, one division might have 3 good teams and another only 1, but when it comes to the playoffs you have to win your division to move on. It will give an interesting set of statistics for the purpose of comparing the "top 3" in each state. Its not a necessarily a poll of the top 12 ski areas in the northeast, but a playoff of what each state has to offer. As long as you define what you are establishing with the poll it is worthwhile.

Never been to Hunter. But I'd rather ski a pile of dog crap than Stratton or Okemo. And not just on Tuesdays.
I tried Stratton last year. While I detested the base area with great scorn, I was actually pleasantly surprised by the trails and glades. Stratton has a number of reasonable width twisty type trails not characteristic of a mega resort. And while their trees aren't steep, the ones I skied were nicely cut. I honestly wouldn't mind skiing the mountain again but my take on the dog crap is you couldn't pay me to deal with that base area again. But you can't knock the place for its terrain. Not steep but the trails are actually quite nice, for what they are.
