My sister and I and possibly 2 friends are planning on going out west for a snowboarding trip this winter. We are looking to experience the best since we never been out west before. We are good snowboarders that just like to ride, we don't touch half pipes or terrain parks. Were looking to just ride and explore the mountain.

-Our price range is about 1200 per person give or take a few hundred.
-We plan on flying out of NYC or PHILLY, which ever is cheaper. Flights are real expensive for some resorts.
-We would wish to stay on the mountain, ski in and out of condo, but that might not be possibly depending on price.
-Looking to travel in March. Most likely March 20th-March 25th.

Any other questions Please let me know. Thanks for the help.

I would recommend Arapahoe Basin. Always good snow, great challenging terrain, and a whole lot cheaper than the surrounding areas. A real old school ski area

No ski in/out at A-Basin.

I suggest Breckenridge or Park City since you'll be able to keep flights cheap flying into SLC or DEN and they're large resort type areas. They're each near other places if you want to try another place or two while you're there. They also have a wide variety of terrain, since you didn't mention ability levels of your group.

Second SLC. Park City or Alta/Snowbird. Solitude/Brighton are also good options. Depends on what terrain you want....

The best with cheap prices and snow is Slc Utah, you go real cheap on hotel and stay in Midvalle(valley) hotel rooms for like 400 for a week and jump on the bus and be at the hill with in 45 minutes or rent cheap car and be at the mountain within 25 minutes. Highly recommend Utah for snow fall and cheapness.

A basin in Colorado is nice from what I hear but Denver is still 100s of miles from any mountain, and SLC is like less then 30 miles to Alta( skiiers only), Snowbird( just as much snow Atla and both have lots of big steep terrain. Brighton and Solitude get lots of snow and are skiied less, and then Park city resort's are nice to from what I hear probably more grooming and less natural at Park city then Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, and Solitude all average over 450 inches of snow per season.

Stay tuned here ... there MAY be some more info on a possible AZ gathering out west this winter. That would probably be SLC area. Hopefully we can negotiation a pretty competitive deal, if you bring some people and get them on the boards here it might be a good option.

Scotty I get that you like SLC, but denver is not 100's of miles from ski resorts. The closest in Eldora and is 35 miles from downtown. Loveland is 53 miles away. Winter Park/Mary Jane are 67 miles from downtown and A basin, Keystone, Copper, Breckenridge and Vail are all within a 100 miles of denver.

Summit county is nice, there is plenty of terrain to cover and if you get the epic pass you can ski/ride most of it for pretty cheap. That being said I think staying right on the mountain so you can ski in/ski out might be stretching your budget a bit at least at Breckenridge. It is nice, but not completely necessary here, since there is the free public transportation.

^ This would probably be the best value for your $$$ if it develops. I hope it does because I would love to explore the mtns surrounding SLC.

It looks like flying into Denver is possible. $55 dollar shuttle to Vail which is reasonable. The flights round trip to Denver were 161 dollars, which is very cheap. So I am leaning towards Vail right now, Or other resorts close to Denver. I am going to continue to do research and appreciate all the insight on here.. Thanks guys!

Okay maybe not 100 but I don't think everyone knows that Denver international airport is not in Denver its about 30 miles away from Denver making it further a way to the mountains.
