Platty was cold with a pretty soft, skiable surface given the ncp this week and the misconception that they don't make snow. Guns were running on Powderpuff Sundown, Shredded mozz all day and on Lower Face in the afternoon. Those Areco's make great snow!! The guns were still going when I left at 6-6:30. I heard he left Whales on northface and Block and groomed them down after the ncp. I heard they were ok but I am solo with my little one this weekend so I stayed on the triple all day. It seemed as though he blew Upper face yesterday and groomed it this morning. Tomorrow should be pretty good...given the lack of natural snow and crap weather this week.

Scotty: both my little one and I wear bright blue jackets we will be there. Our locker is on the main floor...on the stove (as opposed to open fireplace) side.

Thanks for the info I look foward to meeting you tomorrow.

How did you guys make out? Belleayre was great today. No lines anywhere. Everyone seemed to be heading to the Hunter area on the Thruway.

I second that! Awesome day at Belleayre - tons of new pow on all the upper steep bump runs (Onteora, Yahoo, Winisook & Tongora). As well as great bumps (and incredible lines) on lower Wanatuska bump field - was very impressed at how they recovered from the mid-week thaw. Keep up the good work ORDA! (Hint - would be nice to revive the bumps on skiers left of middle Belleayre trail so we can have T2B quad burn... :)

Hunter recovered pretty good. Some Hard Pack in the middle of the trails. Plenty of snow on the sides and near Fan Towers. It didn't seem like the game kept people away, it did empty a little early.

Bump runs were great. Dot Nebel and Upper Seneca were my best runs for sure.

I'm surprised the crowds were normal at Hunter. Belleayre was eerily empty for a Sunday. I figured it was because the game/thaw/temp and assumed it would be similar at other area mountains. I noticed a LOT of people cutting out at lunch. But even then the upper lot never filled in. It sounds like all of the Cats hills recovered well from the thaw. Didn't check on Windham, don't care much for that place.

Was also at Belleayre yesterday. Not crowded at all. The runs off the Tomahawk lift were all great and mostly ignored. Dot Nebel was fast and fun with nice snow on the edges. Got a few gouges from gravel on a couple trails but coverage and quality were good overall.

Scotty, great to ski with you again! I wish I could have joined you at Elk today, damn work. Thanks for the sweet deal you gave my brother on your boots, he needed them. I tried them on when we got home, too small for me, drats, I may have snagged them for myself.

We'll have to hook up for Platty's next Powder Daize, if they have one this year, I don't believe they had any last year.

I had a late start, so a change of mind was in order. For a half day, $55 at Hunter felt a bit steep. So I took the Platty $20 deal. Thanks Scotty for the info.

I thought Patty ski extremely well (well, whatever that's open that is). Even though I normally don't like hard pack, snow on Sunday wasn't all that hard for my taste. It was perfectly edgeable. By 3 o'clock, the snow had soften the snow under the triple to be positively velvet like!

Of course I didn't venture off the groomer. From talking to others who did, it wasn't worth the effort.

Very nice, I'm glad you had fun and took my suggestion. Did you ser the crowds in the lodge by chance?

Yes, I was glad I did. Can't beat a $20 day! I had a late start so only got maybe 10-15 runs in. The snow was so good late in the day I stayed till practically the last chair though.

Hunter turned out to be still on the busy side from what I heard, Superbowl notwithstanding. Probably because others thought as I did and wanted the insurance from the best in snowmaking.

A lady I shared a chair with said Windham on Saturday was an absolute mad house! Glad I didn't go there.

Did you ser the crowds in the lodge by chance?
Oh yeah! Had trouble finding a chair for my quick break even at 1:30pm. Even the lower level was packed with bodies and bags! :) Glad to see the place being so lively on a weekend that was supposed to be questionable condition.

Was a colder day than I thought. Having to run back into the lodge twice to add layers. It should help keep the snow on, and hopefully they make a lot more the coming week. Wouldn't mind doing a repeat the coming Sunday again.

I sorry, I miss you to. Looks like he will be racing soon. I did real fast turns when they were preparing the race trail in the morning, it was fantastic.

I was going to, I put here.

First thing in the morning after hanging out with my girl Maryjane, I was booking it down while the people putting up the race course. I was going really fast over their and I think the people were trying to get me to go some where else, I really couldn't hear what they were saying.

They're really just speed bumps until they're at least 7 or 8.
