I am coming to the realization that Darwinism is a fraud. There were actually two origins of the species. The first were organisms that crawled from the oceans to the shores and evolved. The second were organisms which originated in the glaciers, evolving to be trolls, gnomes, skiers and later boarders in mountainous terrain. This goes a long way towards explaining the inbred attraction to either the mountains or the ocean. Then again, I have no explanation for those who chose to live in the city, go to museums and other cities on vacation, bike on bike paths, jog down sidewalks and pavement and take their exercise in the form of sterile health centers, perhaps touching the earth when they sit down on a manmade bench in the park.

So your saying we evolved from Snowlover? That's disheartening.

Hmm. We may need to test this hypothesis and make adjustments if necessary.

+1 I never feel better or more at home then when I'm in the mountains. I have lived a mile within the beach all my life but it's never called to me. I've always loved the mountains. Even as a child I would go skiing with my family and talked about living in Vermont. Sure wish I'd listened to myself! Life dealt me a different scenario and I've done what I could to be happy but always, whenever I had the opportunity, I would leave, travel and go to the mountains. All my road trips, all my vacations always brought me to a higher place. ;)

I agree, life is short. With the time left to me I want to finally realize my dream and go to where I'm happiest. So sad to live day to day in a place and never be happy, never be content and always want to be somewhere else. It's a living hell. :(

100% Agree. As far as we all know, we only get one shot at this life. If you think something will make you happy, do it. It's better to regret being wrong than to regret never finding out. I try to live my life with that in mind. It applies to everything from, taking on a new responsibility at work, to trying new foods, to just getting the courage to ask a girl out. Sure, sometimes it won't work, and sometimes it'll lead to pain or hurt feelings, but you can only know true happiness if you've known true heartbreak. The fullness of our lives is equal to the sum of our experiences, so take it all on and only look back to see how far you've come.

I should be a motivational speaker.

And live in a VAN down by the RIVER!!!

Some gems I founds in this most excellent thread.

When some says at least it isn't snowing I reply - Snow is happy, rain is sad. Then I say move to Florida with the rest of the idiots.
I am one of those annoying people that talk about winter during the summer. I also express my love for winter to everyone.

Funny thing about snow - when it is falling most people do not mind walking around in it, watching it, and looking at the results of it! But ....when it rains people avoid it like the plague! I will take snow any day
Hahaha! Me too!

It kills me when someone who claims to be a skier or snowboarder says they can't wait till summer. I silently remove them from the cool list and put them on to the poser list in my mind.
You don't like snow, we get it, move elsewhere or shut up.
Florida is where people go to die.
Most people I have met that live in the mountains enjoy it and look forward to all four seasons. If you're gonna live on this fine planet, embrace your world and get out there. The only time I'm not outside is during black fly season!
Im thinking I may have to move somewhere it DOES WINTER !
There are probably people around me that complain about snow, but I don't pay attention to them...!
I am coming to the realization that Darwinism is a fraud.
It's better to regret being wrong than to regret never finding out.

What I always hear, and it perplexes me, is "You like being cold." Uh, no I don't. I heat my house, I take hot showers and I layer up when I ski or winter hike.

Cotton kills? That's a great slogan.

My GF says that all the time, I hate it. And I don't really know how to counter that other than saying "No, but I tolerate it"

And the meteorologists always like to make it sound worse than it is. How come we never hear what the "Wind Chill Factor" is in the summer nor what the "Heat Index" is in the winter?

Thanks for sharing this. I'm in the middle of a long, frustrating and expensive rescue/restoration of an old house in the country. It's where I want to be, but we've hit a difficult phase. It's kind of cheering to be reminded of why we're doing this. So thanks, and good luck finding your place.
