We have had some of the best consistent snow conditions in years. As a retired Navy officer I am not a fan of our current administration especially how they have degraded and disrespected the power that was earned by sacrifice from generations of the individuals and our country who previously served. The meeting in the Whitehouse yesterday is a low for all of us.

However- I must commend our mountain for how well they handled the inconvenience of having a Vp pick our humble resort to spend the weekend. I was here from 8am through 1600 and it was a normal weekend- zero inconvenience for us small people. I will thank Sugarbush and not the VP - maybe we will get a grant to help bring in more A+ lift mechanics that the Doge will approve.

Prey for more snow!!!

Yes, I see that he skis at the beginner/intermediate level from the video. What I also notice is the crazy amount of people on that trail skiing near him then the wreck at the end.

I've always thought a crowded beginner/ intermediate trail like that is much more dangerous than skiing an expert trail which never has a crowd.
He brought a crowd with all the secret service folks in his orbit, but DS is often a pinch point for crowds

I have to thank the publicity for bringing the lines down. There were no issues and skiing was great. The report is that the traffic for this weekend was less than normal

Just drove by the farm on Bragg Hill with the horses out front. One of the horse blankets had "I love Lucy" written on it in tape.

Vance will drive by later today on the way to BTV (not skiing today...too cold) but likely will have no idea.

Glad she's not been canned, and also glad it wasn't a complete shitshow this weekend. Happy everyone got a chance to express their views and we now move on. Fingers crossed for the future, especially Tue-Thur with the rain and 50 degrees...

Skiing on Saturday was tops in my books for weekend skiing. We hit the slopes just after first chair as I was anticipating things to be a shit show. Crowds on the slopes never showed up. Trails and lifts were eerily empty. I never saw VD - but saw a ton of Secret Service. All groomers were incredibly edgy/carvable. SF, SB, OG, RC, CR all skied awesome. The set up with a fresh groom on Friday and 3” of new snow made for some perfect skiing. Not sure what’s on the way this week for weather- but there is a ton of solid base to withstand.

I think now that we made it through this weekend, we can move on from politics in my favorite and most popular thread.

We're going to need it based on the upcoming weather pattern through at least mid-March. Hope something changes, but not looking particularly favorable for much new snow.

Not gonna miss it.
Shuttle works fine.
Re-allocate the dollars.
Hire an electric/controls professional.
If and when, what's the over under on how many years it just sits and rots before being dismantled? Hard to see them spending good money on taking it down and removing the towers instead of just leaving it.

It would make more sense based on the last few years snowfall in March and April to keep it running if Ellen stayed open past the end of March.

the cozy brown snows of the east
From the Boston Globe (sorry, paywall):

In a statement to the Globe, Sugarbush spokesperson John Bleh said the resort respects “the voice and opinion” of its employees but “determined that the snow report was not the appropriate medium to share that information.” He would not comment on whether Welch had faced disciplinary action but said she “remains a member of the snow reporting team.”

Hopefully Alterra steps in, maybe even with a bit of pressure and does the right thing all around. Sugarbush needs new management, a complete overhaul.
