Interesting question. The sale of the land to Ottauquechee was September 19th and the sale of Killington/Pico was closed September 27. The Bear land was sold during the K/P sales contract period.
I believe it was not a lump sum payment but rather incremental as units are built and sold. Either way, it would have been factored into the selling price of the mountain, kind of like ex-dividend on a stock price.

First I've heard of it, but Killington just posted on Facebook that the Snowdon Triple will be replaced next year. Actually kind of sad about that, it never has a line in its current state even if the rest of the base area is a madhouse. I also loved running hot laps off the midstation onto Conclusion.

Even though it wasn't specifically mentioned in the liftblog article, would surprise me if the new quad has a mid station given how much of a training venue KMS has turned highline into the last few years... Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Also wouldn't be surprised to see them moving the base terminal for the new lift on the run out from Conclusion, but out of the way of the crossing traffic heading either from the area of Bunny Buster or across the flat towards the Snowdon bubble, as a way to potentially reconfigure the queue area for the K1

Makes you wonder how much influence KMS and other programs have over the new owners. I would have had a Ramshead replacement ahead of the Snowdon triple.

Doesn't one of the new owners have a fairly strong connection to KMS? I don't really think this is the wrong decision though. The Snowdon triple is 20 years older than Ramshead. Sure it is a fixed grip lift vs a detach and should last longer, but it is still pushing 50 years old! And fixed grip lifts do serve an important role as they are more weather resilient. (This is also part of their logic in why they're replacing this one). Also I'm sure it is cheaper to replace than Ramhead. They just replaced Superstar, so I think it makes sense to tackle a slightly lower budget item next (And the Snowdon triple is their oldest lift if we exclude the Pico lifts and focus purely on Killington...).

Perhaps, but a Ramshead replacement is very much tied to village construction starting/moving forward. If that is a few years off, moves up other projects.

LB 2026 page shows a mid station.

My thoughts are strictly from a capacity needed POV. Ramshead as a HSQ doesn't meet the capacity demands for the terrain and user ability level it primarily serves.

Snowdon 3, outside of ski team use, is largely a backup lift for weather or the six pack being too crowded.

Basically, an upgraded Ramshead would benefit more of the clientele than an upgraded Snowdon triple. Hence me questioning if this is the new ownership throwing the competition programs a bone.

Put me in the camp of having a mid station still for Conclusion laps and please don't blast, widen and regrade the trail as part of this project.

As others have said new lifts at ramshead and snowshed are tied to new lodge and "ski beach" which is part of village.

Agree they need a 6 at ramshead now...
But when they put in a 6 (or maybe even an 8) at Ramshead, will they necessarily up the capacity? Look at Superstar, going from a 4 to a 6 but keeping the capacity at essentially the same.

More seats on a carrier doesn't always mean more capacity. Especially if they feel the current downhill traffic levels are saturated

I think they'd be nuts not to increase the capacity, especially with the village plan.

Superstar isn't really an apples to apples comparison. If that chair gets jammed, folks can move along to K1, Snowdon, Snowshed etc. if Ramshead gets slammed, the only other way out of there is a long slog over to Snowshed. Unless the plan is for multiple lifts out of the Village, then maybe they could keep Ramshead the same.

I would think that chair spacing is more important than the actual speed for a mid station. Especially on that lift with its tall steep ramp
