Weather: Rain 6am-9am, then cloudy and in the 40s
Trail Report: 20/35 trails open, all groomed
Time skied: 8:45-3:00
Heard the pitter patter of raindrops on my skylight during breakfast. The entire drive to the mountain it rained. Got my $49 ski club ticket (only $20 midweek, I do believe), and headed out the door. The first run was...variable. A little ice, some soft snow. The rain stopped when I reached the base and it never came down again. Things got better as the day went on. Most of the snow became soft and fun. You could even put an edge in the ice. There were quite a few... obstacles. Nothing too bad though, minus Walter's Way which was more dirt than snow. The trails off the midway double had the best coverage and the best snow. Crowds were light. I never rode the chair up with anyone. Kinda odd, I mean there were people there. Probably 500 or so, mostly beginner kids who's parents had already dropped the college tuition on ski lessons for the week. ROTD was either Catamount or Off Stage, with Glade coming in at a close second.
The air compressors were on when I left. Soon the Cat will come alive.
BTW, the pictures are a lot worse than it was. I had a great time and have no regrets about going.
