Good snow, great variety of terrain and incredible coverage. Skiing was excellent this weekend up at Stratton. Although they did not receive the deeper up-slope snows like areas further north, Stratton with it's high elevation got just enough to aid the surface conditions and help bolster the impressive snowmaking assault. Since last weekend the available terrain has tripled and this is not on natural snow or and barely covered snowmaking trails that will chew up that brand new snow sliding implement. Pretty much every open trail is covered edge to edge and with a deep enough machine made base that I did not hit or see any bogeys lurking on the hill. Crowds were relatively lacking albeit for the morning rush and racers heading up first thing in the morning. If the weather stays as predicted, Stratton will be in great shape for the holidays with the majority of the mountain opened up including some action in the trees. The woods are not ready yet but getting closer. Here's some pictures.........

Thanks for the report. I'm hoping some of the lower trees and trees off the snowmaking trails are ready this weekend (12/17,18) after a couple rounds of natural snow.

Good stuff out there on Saturday 12/10. I'm glad I went--the crowds were SUPER quiet!

Good stuff out here today! Some nice wind buff on black bear run, others typical midwinter conditions with nice packed powder, and soft crud on top of harder surface. Only about 5-6 runs off top to bottom, but snow is great. Light crowd, had to wait three gondola cars once. Sun is out, can see the white mtns.

Nice TR! We were there Sunday. Stayed to skiers left and lapped the greens and blues. Good conditions on the cruisers. A little scratch on the pitches, but not bad. Stopped at Equip in Rawsonville on the way home. The guy at the shop said the mountain had 9 trails open a year ago vs the 43 that had that day. What a difference. This could be a great Christmas week if the cool temps stick around.

These are some stellar shots. Our winter rental is not far from Stratton.. We need to get there again as it has been like 20 years since we last skied it.
