Trailboss is correct on the green line story. The only reason its somewhat high on the list is because of how much has already been done. The only advantage I see is giving racers access to that chair which will clear some congestion and also open the possibility of offering them a summit lift ticket for some reduced amount. Id rather see the money used elsewhere too.
Green would also allow Magic to open sooner with less snow making. They wouldn't have to blow top to bottom just to get one run open. They could get two runs from Green open for the same amount of snow that they are blowing on Magic Carpet. Granted, that would be lower elevation so they'd still need to blow up high when they could if lower elevation was too warm. Having racing off that chair would be great as well. Talisman makes a great race trail but it is a tough blow to take that trail off line all day for racing and that would also get racers off the summit chair when there is actually a line.

One of the reasons for it is so that beginners and lower intermediates can have a shorter run. Magic Carpet is a damn long trail for a newer skier. There is merit to that. And Beginners and lower intermediates could use their energy to ski differing trails rather than hammering Upper Magic Carpet to get down to Sunshine Corner. Would also reduce the line for Red (when there is one) and reduce lift stops due to loading problems.

I agree that not having a dedicated beginner lift should have been addressed before Green. Green is too much of a step up for true beginners. They could have installed a beginner lift for less investment (fewer towers, less haul rope, etc.) which would have serviced a unique skier (the true beginner that might find even Green too much of a step up from the rope tow). But I can see getting Green up and running being a priority now since the largest investment has already been made (purchase and install of towers and terminals).

Makes sense to put a carpet and slopeside elements onto Little Dipper but would be better to fully utilize that area as the great "never ever" learning area that it could be.
