Date(s) Hiked: Thursday, May 13th, 2010
Trails(s) Hiked: Bushwacked(20' max)..here & there, No trails marked in area.
Total Distance: Hiked around for ~2miles of actual hiking.
Difficulty: Not overly difficult as hardwoods up here have not bloomed in totality.
Conditions: Sunny, bluebird, low to mid 60s, Windy (from the north..~20-30mph)
Special Required Equipment: 4wd, hiking boots, bucksaw
Trip Report:
Spent a beautiful sunshiny day with female friend hiking about a side of a mountain and down around a bog, at mountain's foot...built up by beaver and filled by tribs from the mountain and springs. She enjoys paddling as well...thus she didn't need much arm twisting...since I'd already put together a lunch+. (Used to do this for an Americana Inn(Albany, NY) once upon a time....took class in NYC. EVERYONE should learn how to cook/arrange a picnic in a fine NYC restaurant and get paid(not much) for it). I know the logging roads so it was simply a "this way will get us close", and then it was out of the Xterra and just a little bushwacking...but not a lot.
Most of our time today was essentially spent drinking in wilderness(not getting drunk;-)..clear water from Thermos was fine) without any tasks/chores..(some nice areas of uncut old-growth)...taking pictures of few small streams on the mountainside and choosing an an easy launch point for a canoe(or two..or three) for future reference.
Grabbed a few pics, shot more or less on the run(walk) (ie PowerShotA520's "auto") ...*this week's goal...WILL do a little photo-study for better work)
Thursday in the Maine woods...
