Thinking of heading up to Jiminy or Butternut on Sunday...taking the 3.5yr...how far from Hartford? My folks live up there and thinking about going up Sat night and leaving the 7mo old with them for the day....thanks

About two hours, just no neat direct way to get there from Hartford. For Butternut, it's pretty much 91, to 90 to Westfield Exit off MA Pike & then 20 & 23. Jiminy may be easier as you stay on Pike longer, I believe, I'm not a skier so I'll pass on messing you up on directions.

The AT is near Butternut & I have family that live about 30 minutes away.

If you are in Hartford you can always take rt 44 to 183 or 7 to 23 to Butternut. The Pike is the fastest, but get off at exit 2 and not 3. Taking the Westfield, MA exit (3) takes 20 minutes longer than staying on the Pike.

I have made Butternut in 90 minutes from the I84/I91 area via the Pike. It is the easiest drive.
