In the southern Hemisphere last week. Looks like the winter season down south is starting off in the right direction

those mountains don't look that great. Definately look sub-vermont as far as difficulty, i was always under the impresion that those mountains were monsters.

the new zealand areas are on the small side but you can find more than enough challenge. everythings above the treeline. the heli-skiing was outrageous. as for the ski areas, mt. hutt, treble cone & the remarkables all have some great terrain. but the best stuff was off piste/hike-to. one area we didn't hit is craigieburn which allegedly has some pretty sick stuff. some triple diamonds (suicidal)! while we were there, the x-team & plake were hanging/filming there.

Yeah, I skied The Remarkables, which was pretty basic (although to be fair it was early season conditions). I walked up Cadrona in the summer time, and that mountain is FLAT. I wanted to hit a couple more mountains, but my money ran out after my semester abroad.

If I ever get back there I'm going to see if I can get some heli skiing in. Just hiking in the "bush" around huge mountain peaks was an unbelievable experience.
