Don't ask me why I'm checking the Sundown Web site at the beginning of May, but.....I did, and I noticed the prices for the 2008-09 season passes are not increasing. $479 before 10/31. Just an FYI since I knew a few of you were considering one.

Not sure what the "10% State Admissions Tax" is...

Only 7 months to go... :-?

wow $479? kind of steep for such a little hill. I imagine they have to get their majority of their money from passes though as day ticket sales I would assume to be a lower percentage there than their neighbors to the north

actually, i'd bet its the other way around. I've skied there more times then i can count and single tickets are the overwhelming majority of what you see on the lifts and trails.

It looks that way, but it's not so bad when you consider the amount of snow this place makes despite it being so latitudinally and altitudinally (a word?) challenged. Also, since they offer night skiing, their operating hours are longer than the larger day-only hills so it's not fair to compare them to any other mountain that doesn't offer night skiing. Their anytime pass price is pretty much in line with a place like Wachusett.

hmmm interesting. I was basing my theory purely based on the high (relatively) season pass price.

Yea, but do they offer lower pass options? Weekday only and all that. At WA you can also join a GPS group and get further discounts on the passes.

No, and admittedly unless you're going to get 20+ days/nights in, there are probably better options including the savings card or pick-a-night pass.

If you average out the cost of a ticket to around $36, the break even point if just over 13 days. I didnt think i would ski there 11 times this year so i didnt even bother with a savings card. I should really rethink that for the upcoming season. I tired of noreaster last year but this year with them changing it to temptor it was, in essence, like getting a new ski area since those are the only 2 trails i skied all year. If they would ever cut a new trail and give us either that or stinger as a the bump run, i think i would have to buy the pass.

I don't know about that. There are probably more day tickets on the mountain at any given time, but I don't think it's an overwhelming majority. There are quite a few season passes out there, and I think that sales for the passes has been increasing for the last few years. One thing to remember is that there are quite a few affluent communities in the area of Sundown where the residents have the disposable income to buy their kids these passes so that they have something to do with themselves.

I really hope they start with Temptor as the bump run right out of the gate. The steepish section is much better for bumps than anything on Nor'easter. Stick a few small tabletops in the Temptor flats and we'll have a great run to fool around on. Rumor has it surveying is underway looker's right of Gunbarrel. Nothing new for this season, but it's a step in the right direction. You can bet those scary snake skis of yours I'll be pushing hard for a dedicated mogul run on that fall line...

Well the early bird season pass at Blue mountain is about $475..and full priced after November 15th is $649..with the high costs of snowmaking and energy..little hills don't necassarliy mean small prices except in areas with lots of large ski areas
