Ouch....Time for that guy to quit.

For serious..it's good for us because he more into selling monuments for us because the commission is a nice source of additional income..

On topic a 4% increase in lift ticket prices across the board is really not that bad..especially considering the rising minimum wage, energy costs and all the discounts out there..

Looks like Stowe is going to weigh in with an $89 ticket a 6% yr-yr increase.

That when coupled with mom and dad's $85,000,000,000 bailout, should put the execs on line for handsome bonuses this year ;) Betcha the multimillion$ "cabins" on spruce have security guards this year...

I think the bigger guys can absorb more and are afraid to push the market right now. The little guys don't have a choice, most live hand-to-mouth. I'm fearful that we will see some bankruptcies this year. Gee, get in line for a skier/taxpayer-funded bailout, no?

Anyone recall how much we paid last season? Like Jack Nicholson said, "What if this is as good as it gets?"
Lowest I paid last season was $2.919 (only got that low once) and had a few $2.999 fill ups. Currently at $3.059 here which is better than 90% of last season by a large margin. I'll take it.

Local stations here just went down to $2.999. We are essentially at the lowest price per gallon since prior to the 07-08 season as WJenness's graph demonstrates. Gas prices should keep falling into the near future as price per drum of oil just got knocked down again.

This is going to provide even stronger incentive for families to stay local in the northeast instead of flying west in a bad economy.

Gas prices didn't really start ascending rapidly until the end of the lift serviced ski season last year.... so at least skiers and riders will see similar prices compared to last year whereas we were expecting a $1 increase per gallon comparatively... at the least.

3 gas stations in Newmarket all around $2.70. In general, they have all been 15-30 cents lower than the surrounding area. It was a combined decision of all three stores to have the lowest prices in the state to drive up their retail sales. It's been that way since I moved here in June, so it must be working for them to have kept with the program. Hope they're still doing it come winter.

How did we turn this into a gas discussion?

In any case, $2.879 in Torrington @ Cumbie's today. I drove around and didn't see any cheaper in Bristol, even though Bristol was a lot cheaper on Tuesday.
