Twenty-five years ago John Lennon was murdered in NYC...

It was a very sad day at work that day.

Can you recall what you were doing when you heard the news?

Was watching Monday Night Football...

His death really affected me.. Still does... My mother was so concerned about me - she tape all the news the next day so I could get all the detials.. We walked around school like zombies the next day...

He was an amazing musician/songwriter.. So much more to hear from him when he was snuffed out...

Words are flying out like
endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass
They slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy
are drifting thorough my open mind
Possessing and caressing me

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Images of broken light which
dance before me like a million eyes
That call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a
restless wind inside a letter box
they tumble blindly as
they make their way across the universe

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter shades of life
are ringing through my open ears
exciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which
shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on across the universe

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Jai guru deva

I was 11 years old and in school. I don't even think I new who he was at the time. My High school was a block from his place and where he was shot. I had to walk past that spot everyday for 4 years.

I was 7, and had no clue who John Lennon was, nor did I care.

At least with Lennon out of the way, the door was opened for Ringo to shine!

I was 9 and was a fan of the Beatles. Didn't listen to much of Lennon's solo (Yoko?) stuff at the time, apart from having "Double Fantasy" on LP. Some good tunes on it like "Watching the Wheels" etc... some crap from Yoko. I remember being pretty shocked, and bummed out.

Then I got into The Police and forgot all about it.

I was in my house in Alexandria, VA watching Monday Night Football. At the time I was attending Georgetown University. I had just finished cooking a frozen pizza and was about to take my first bite when the announcement was made that he had been shot...shortly thereafter we heard he had died.

The pizza wound up in the trash.

I was in my early 20's and was shocked numb. My then-boyfriend was near tears. We spent about four hours that evening simply listening to every Lennon/Beatles album he had. We never turned on the lights. Just sat in the dark, holding hands, not speaking, just listening.

Fark.com's got a ton of December 8th historical moments on the front page. Some are pretty funny.
