So wensday afternoon i got a call from my girl/partner in crime, carrie and she wanted to know if i would be interested in hitting up the creek. i said sure lets leave tonight and crash at my lakehouse. she rolls up to the crib around 11 and we are on the lake at 12:30 after a few pit stops. beer drinking started and didn't get to sleep till 3:30. when i woke up i was looking across the lake
and it looks like a few of the lines i have been taking care of will be ready if the snow does not melt and we get some more snow.
9:30 out the door and at the mountain at 10:30. after some hunting around we find where to get carries a ticket. no idea why she didnt get a pass. head over to the cab and what do we find.
whats up with no cab running the guy says it will be running at 1. they seem to be having a lot of problems with it this year. so we go down to the trip. i forgot how painfully slow it is. was i was a kid i loved riding it we would always push each other off here
not the smartest thing but we where 12 and stupid. the guy that was loading the chair had no idea how to bump it.
it was deffinatly 3rd string thursday. the lift kept stopping so when we got off we headed over to granite. the snow supper fast. deffinatly hard pack but it was fine and great for gs turns. got up to the top and blasted down devils bit it was really nice and down at the bottom by the chair was great super big turns. on the lift i was talking to carries friend who owns a longboard company and after i said i was going to work with prior to design a board he said his longbord company wants to start making snowboards. after some talking he asked my if i would be interested in helping design their boards. they are going to get a press for r&d and then make the boards with the company that produces their long boards. really cool stuff. i basically get to do any thing i want. hopefully i will be able to get some different prototypes on snow for spring.
did another lap down devils then at 12 went down sojourn over to south. staying flat on your base is key. im actually able to make it with out having to unstrap. the same cant be said for the rest of the snowboards. WAXING MAKES ALL THE DIFFERECE. i love rocketing by people in the flats. i always get looks from people. its flats
hit the barrel bonk and the jumps down lower. both me and carrie had major problems with the way they desing their features. you can not hit them with any speed or you land right in flat. they need to move back the kickers a min or 15 to 20 feet. its a same but they really have no idea how to build propper hits. went over to bear to check that side out and no real features over there but was kinda fun with all the rollers. it was nice enought that we did it twice. took the south lift up and hit the progressing park for fun. once south softens up in the spring its goin to be real fun.
at the bottom carries friend got a call and his girl was over at north so went up south exp and down to the party chair. forgot how long it is. was talking to the guy in front of me and he was down from valdez visiting his brother who lives in one of the condos their. we where laughing at how he came all the way down here to ride the creek, well because its "international know". he said aleska is skiing reall good now and the snowpack is pretty damn stable in the BC and has been doing a lot of sled touring. pretty cool guy. was going to take a run with him but he didnt really keep up with our crew we just rocketed away.
got back down to north to grab the newest addition to our crew who is one of the companies longboard riders. WTF the cab still aint running. back down to the trip. on the way up it was just me and carrie. we where talking and about half way up i turn to her and say "you know this lift is so slow we could have sex, smoke a cig, and then cuddle and still not be at the top" she tough about it for a min as she looked around. i think she was actually thinking about it. i looked down then saw this.
basically this was a group ofe never evers. the snowlerblader had just fallen over his sister and the dad just comming into fram then rolled over both of them
went over to granite and wanted to do pipe line but it wasnt open. kinda teh suck so we just went over to south. basically laped every thing over there. snow was great except for where most of the kids hit the jumps. they all take the same damn line.
at 3:30 went back over to north so we could have a beer before we left. went over to the new bar.
its really nice. deck with speakers a back lounge area with flat screens and a pool table
also a big projector over the bar. nobody seems to knwo its there. so we got a beer and sat the deck watch the sun go down.
as we where walking to the car i came across the this car with some kids.
there are so many things wrong with this. i know for sure the cop over at the light at south was going to give them shit. it was a fun day at the creek with some cool friends. be back tomorrow and sunday
