I recently came across a scam for renting a condo at The Woods. The basics are:

The owner advertises in a classified on Craigslist, or vacation rental websites.
The owner types in a wording style similar to all the Nigerian Oil Minister scams we've all seen.
He is overseas on business and cannot meet with you.
He will not tell you the unit number, as he has been the victim of scams before. (This one is precious)
You cannot inspect the condo without first placing a deposit.
To hold the condo, you are to wire him money via Western Union. (Are your red flags up yet?)

These scams are nothinig new, but they are now closer than ever to home in that they have photos of Killington condos both inside and out, and are representing they are owners. Wouldn't surprise me if there are ads for other resorts as well. Alert your friends not to fall for this.

That's almost as bad a scam as the owners of Killington are trying to perpetrate on the town with their ill-conceived village plans.

Just got one of these emails, not very wordy but it mentioned Killington:

Subject: Offer on Killington

we cancelled the Wednesday night stay for Diego (as he's arriving on Thrsday) and the hotel have agreed not to charge us for it. Ad such, here is the revised PO for the hotel booking,

It also has an attachment 85891_inv.html - which I of course didn't open.

So yeah its out there but it has the same format as alot of other spam out there.
