I was poking around the archive.org page for this forum and decided to chart the growth we've seen since this board's inception on 7/1/2001. Check it out:

Greg is responsible for me getting me to move here from FTO and I would rather visit a site that is focused on the Northeast than the whole country.

Keep up the good work:beer:

Hmmmm....seems like Mar/Arp 05 is the launching pad (my sign-up date).
Hmmmmm....when did RSN collapse their forums again..?

Greg is responsible for me getting me to move here from FTO and I would rather visit a site that is focused on the Northeast than the whole country.:
Yikes. You make it sound like I recruited you and forced you to abandon FTO. Marc is a good guy and FTO is a great site. I do however think that the fact that this site focuses on just the Northeast is what contributes to its success! How did you find out about this site again? You were the guy I asked about Sugarloaf a few years back, right?

Brian probably helped a lot with that growth. ;)
Oh.....absolutely! Brian had been an invaluable member for the site. He's helped with a lot of scripting, helps me find features in the forum software that I didn't even know existed and has always been there to help others. I'm glad to have gottern to know him personally and it's been great skiing with him. Super quiet in person, at least at first. Kind of a gentle giant, but once the F-bombs start flying, look out! ;)

So, sev - are you gonna make some turns with us this year?

one of the interesting aspects of the forum growth is its direction. i first came to AZ mostly in reference to hiking and iirc, the forum was slightly more active in the hiking forums, but at the least it was pretty even. now the forums are very much dominated by the ski posting even during prime time hiking season.

I mean that comment in a comlimentary way. I did not know that AZ existed before you contacted me about Sugarloaf. I was ready to leave FTO anyway because of a few bad eggs in the basket that made posting unpleasant. I agree that it is a good site, especially if your skiing travels take you nationwide, which most of my ski days do not. I began too feel that I did not have much to contribute to such a broad spectrum based internet ski forum.

The enviornment here is totally different and laid back with friendly people, and I look forward to meeting more AZ'ers and making new friends.

Um, no. I'm out for another season. :D Maybe next year?

My wife is in the hospital right now due to a miscarriage at an early stage in her pregnancy. She has Crone's disease, so another child is not going to be in the works again.

I wish you all the best with your child.

not to change the subject, but FTO is just as friendly and laid back as FTO. one of the known bad apples isn't there any more, fwiw.

Agreed. I've found FTO to be as civil as this place.

I totally agree FTO is as friendly as FTO. It also seems to be as friendly as AZ. ;)

I'm really sorry to hear that. :( Send your wife our best wishes.
