AN INVITATION TO JOIN OUR 2006-07 AZ RACE TEAMS

It’s time to get our “virtual” race teams going again, now that our beloved resorts have snow! This is an open invitation for you to join our teams – no experience or pre-qualification is necessary.

“NASTAR Team Racing is a great way for friends and family members to compete together during the season regardless of when and where they race. Each time a team member races at a Nature Valley NASTAR resort they score points for their team. That's correct - you don't even have to race at the same time or location to score points for your team! Always wanted to be on a team but never had the time or gumption – here you go – this is citizen’s racing at it’s finest.

What’s new this year
I’ve kept the single CLUB team, but added a second “B” team for family and friends, since we had almost enough to make a second team last year. Feel free to join one family/friends team and the AZ Club Team.

What’s old this year
I kept everyone enrolled as they had self-selected last year. If a prior teammate doesn’t participate, it won’t hurt our score, so I chose to leave them on to make it easier for them.

The following teams are open to everyone:

1. FAMILY/FRIENDS TEAMS
For those who can't join the family/friends team (you already belong to another family/friends team), try adding a CLUB TEAM under your profile.
1.You can only belong to one Family/Friends Team
2.Only the 6 highest scorers count, but there is no enrollment cap.

Enroll one Family/Friends team:
AlpineZone Virtual Team -or- AlpineZone Virtual Team B

2. CLUB TEAM

Enroll: AlpineZone Virtual Club Team
1.You can belong to any number of club teams
2.Only the 15 highest scorers count, but there is no enrollment cap.

For both AZ Family/Friends and AZ Club teams:
  • You can switch your team allegiance during the season. We’d prefer if you would stick to one team, but it’s your choice to change. Remember, you can only enroll in one Family/Friends Team, but an unlimited number of clubs.
  • In order to be ranked against other teams, you must have minimum number of scorers (6 or 15 respectively)
  • You can be in both a AZ Family/Friends and AZ Club Team and it costs nothing and takes away nothing from your other team memberships. It's kind of like double-counting, but it's all on the up and up.
  • You will find these names in the dropdown lists in your www.nastar.com profile when you register online.
  • Boarders, Alpine, Tele, Disabled of all ages are all welcome
The following team is closed – our esteemed weeknight racing team at Pat’s Peak, but please check the link weekly to see how they are doing and cheer them on. There is a separate thread discussing this team.

AlpineZone Monday night team @ Pat's

Further AZ NASTAR program details are found in this thread from last year

We will keep you posted as the season progresses. Remember, you only have until Washington’s Birthday February 19th to qualify for Nationals, but racing will continue the remainder of the season.

If you have any question, no matter how simple or seemingly naïve, please, please ask it, as others are always thinking the same thing.

Good Luck and welcome aboard teammates!

Bill T.
