Considering the amount of rain they got and are possibly going to get again on Saterday i think it would be a bust.It did look nice on Sunday, a thin coat all across the ridge.

I disagree. There was a ton of blown snow up there last saturday, and the fact that they waited until 4pm today to pull the plug on the weekend means that there's snow. If yesterday's rain melted it all they would have had the message up this morning.

It definatly does not look like that anymore. It is now mostly grass with a few patches of white here and there.

Oh yeah? Sorry but I beg to differ. I was there today and I skiied it. The exact opposite of what you said is true. Onteora is mostly white with a few patches of grass here and there.

There were even some kids with shovels making a jump up there.

Here's pics from today:

:-o ...drool...that looks good to me! Unfortunatly I do not think that would be nearly enough snow to open. I don't think that snow could hold the capacity of skiirs that planned on going up. But hey it's a start!!! :snow:

The snow was deep in places, probably 3 or more feet. But by the time that was moved around to fill in some of the bare spots there wouldn't have been enough to hold up to the capacity of skiers, like you said. There was a lot last weekend but the 1.5-2 or so inches of NCP we got on Thursday plus the 60 degree days put a hurtin on it.......

Just got this from Belleayre:

She giveth and She taketh away....
Mother Nature that is. We were ready, we were sooooo ready! We started with some great weather and temperatures in the beginning of November. We blew snow on the 3rd, 4th and 5th. The snow makers blew great big piles of the fluffy white stuff, and the plan was to leave the piles sit until just before the opening on the 11th. Then we would push it out and groom it to perfection, a velvet white corduroy trail. It didn't matter that it was only one trail for the first weekend, we were ready and so were you, with calls from Maryland to Maine, they were coming. Then the weather turned warm, warmer than usual and ate a little snow, then came the fog and ate a little more, then the dreaded rain. And that ate some too. So in the end we wound up with some still rather large piles of snow, on a trail of soft turf and green grass. Turf that doesn't do well under the weight of the groomer. So, the plan is to wait until Mother Nature drops the temperature and we will be all over it. We are of course hoping for a November 18th opening now. Please keep in touch for up to date information by phone, or web, whenever it gets here it's going to be great!
