Planning to take the wife and kids Sunday -- anyone know how the snow is there?

Web site says 100 percent open, but Mrs. Cosmic hates any signs of ice.

Thanks for any help!!

Conditions

Butternut is doing pretty good as long as conditions go. If you ski for the first 3 hours there usually there is no ice. Yes the is 100% open. Whenever ive gone they have closed main street for racing, but im not sure if there will be racing. It does get pretty crowded but last weekend i went and the lines werent long at all. If you want to go in the park you have to get a park pass.

nice

Thanks a lot, Skier4Life.

I've been there a million times, really like it for a family place.

Was Freewheeler any good?? That's my favorite run.

How was it for you?

I was there Sunday, you might've seen me. I was the idiot in the meatwagon getting a ride from Patrol after obtaining a Lateral Tibial Plateau Fracture.

Thanks.

Its killin' me. Not the pain, I can deal with that, its the disappointment that's tough. Having to cancel our week at the Bush/MRG next week. Alex was all excited to ride the original single chair for the last time. It was even worse seeing the expression on her face as I was hauled past. I smiled and waved and stuff, but I'm worried that she's taking this harder than me. Last thing I want to do is shake her confidence...

butternut

just replied to Paul in his trip report thread ... but can add this about our trip ...

My kids especially liked Main Street today, and I think they learned a lot about finding a line on the sides of slopes when it gets a little scratchy in the middle.

I'm glad we insist on helmets, because my daredevil son would have been with you in the meatwagon if he didn't have one. Took one tumble with full back-of-head contact on some hardpack that would have been a definite concussion if not for the brain bucket.

My only gripe about Butternut is that darn logjam just as you approach Pied Piper when you get off the Top Flight Quad and take a right, where everyone stops at the stop of that short incline up on the trail leading to Pied Pier and Whip. For the life of me I can't figure out why everyone stops there.

forgot to add -- hope you heal quickly Paul.

always stinks to have to bag a trip like yours to the Bush, especially now that the season was getting good.

Let me try to lighten the mood:

What suck most is that you were taken out by a run at Butternut!

;)

Sorry, Paul - coudn't resist and knowing your sense of humor, I figured you'd appreciate that. But seriously, like I said in your TR, this really sucks. Glad I got the chance to ski with you briefly this season. Take it easy, get well soon and we'll hook up again next season.

That's funny. When I was at the ER in GB, there were some twentysomethings in the same room. One of them busted his lip at the terrain park at Butternut. We said the same thing, of all the places to get injured...

We had fabricated a story that it happened at Tuck's, or the BC at Jay or Stowe, and we just decided to go to the GB ER, 'cos its in my insurance. :-D

Yeah, we'll always have Sundown! Get ready, 'cos next season, I'll be back with a vengance!!
