I wouldn't be surprised to find an update somewhere from someone. Many people will be there. After all, Wachusett is the only ski area in the world where you can wait in a liftline at 4 in the morning. A lot of us have skied during a sunset, but how many have skied during a sunrise?

I'm not sure where Leicester is in comparison to the NH border, but you might want to look into Crotched mountain, they have a pretty good night skiing deal on fridays. A lot cheaper than Wachusett, a lot less people and its a little steeper. Still pretty small, but I'd say a little taller than Wachusett.

A. Crotched is twice as far and is about the same distance as Sunapee
B. I just looked at day ticket prices and they are practically the exact same
C. Wachusett season passes are much cheaper
D. Wachusett is bigger
E. If you know when to go, Wachusett isn't crowded all the time

Sellouts at Wachusett

Has anyone ever encountered a sellout at Wachusett?? They have a disclaimer stating as much on their web site, and since we're meeting friends in the afternoon their Saturday, I'm a little worried about getting shut out.

Are the weekend lift line horror stories true? Unfortunately, this is the only place we can meet because our friends from Boston have a morning commitment.

I've seen them sell out twice. You won't have a problem this weekend... it's March. Lines might be up to 5 minutes or so for a little while, but it's not bad.

I meant that the night skiing deal they have is a much better deal than most tickets at Wachusett, 29$ to ski from 5pm-3am, and the mountain is usually DEAD, where Wachusett, in my experience, is generally a bit crowded, especially on weekends.

Thanks Zand -- was really worried about the crowd factor.

Brother-in-law said conditions were great at Wachusett last week, so looking forward to Saturday afternoon.

I just checked out wachusett's website, and the first thing that came to mind was "midwest."

If you live close to this hill, then great, ski it, looks like a decent time.

But why in the world would any out of towners plan a vacation to this molehill? They don't list their elevation/vertical drop for a reason.

People might be interested in doing a night-away from the kids or something like that.

If 1,000 vertical feet is a molehill...

Again, it's bigger than Crotched, which is 875 feet. Wachusett is 1,000 feet (give or take... maybe closer to 975, but the fact is... it's still more). And yes they do list their vertical drop AND elevation... in multiple places.
