If you find a trail that is in good shape, can you just lap it over and over, or do you typically get bored of it? If I find a trail I like, I can easily spend a lot of time on it just running laps. You?

I am sometimes..I've skied Razors edge at Blue mountain 30 times in a row when all the trails are open just because I was enjoying it so much..on a ski trip..I usually don't ski the same run more than 2-3 times in a day..

There was one spring day I couldn't get myself off Hayride no matter how I tried. It just kept pulling me over.

I tend not to be a lapper these days as I am typically going to different mountains and it will represent one of a handful of times that I'll be there all winter, so I'll want to check out a wide variety of terrain.

If it's a season that I have a pass somewhere, then I'm much more likely to lap a trail for a good portion of the day if I'm enjoying it.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I usually tend to explore around more when I'm up north. At the beloved Sundown, it's usually the same run over and over. I'll probably ski the Temptor bumps and the Gunbarrel bumps in the spring a couple hundred times each this season. Local skiing is more like practice than anything else. Fun practice, however.

Yes, unless I think the conditions are as good or better elsewhere on the mountain, then I'll try to mix it up.

I easily can lap runs. All day, maybe not, but definitly for a morning or afternoon based on conditions. Its fun after riding the same trail for a while, you know exactly what the snow conditions are at different parts of the trail, so depending on how those are, you can really open it up and push your limits.

Only at Sundown! Opening night when I was there I did 10 runs down Temptor, and after each run I would say to myself, "I'm going to try NorEaster next time". Once I got past the first set of bumps though, it was too late!

Only on a short, managable bump run like Beartrap at Mt. Snow. Between the short chair ride, the music, and the fact that skiers left is usually a place I can work on my still crappy mogul skills, I do like to lap that trail.

I am not a lapper unless at a small area like sundown. Even there 3 laps is about my limit before I have to ski something different.

I concur with "variety is the spice of life" - Doing anything over and over again to me is very boring.

After one lap a trail is pretty much hammered in my opinion. I want a fresh, virgin blanket of now. Like a blank canvas. My goal on any given day is to never cross a track. However, If conditions are truely better on one trail, I may go back and ski it again, but not ussually back to back runs. I like exploring the Mtn and if I'm doing multiple laps, I want to see as much of what it has on any given day. On the handful of days I ride the lifts/year...if it's a "free refills" kind of thing, I might lap.

Yes, there are times that a trail/route will be just right. Today is a good example, after a few runs from the gondola at Loon, headed over to North Peak and did Sunset, Haulback, Lower Walking Boss ten times in a row. You were still finding freshies in the afternoon on the sides (three inches but fresh!)

It all depends. I prefer variety and experiencing different kinds of terrain in a day. That said, if something is real good, I will immediately repeat it before going onto something else and then returning later.

If I have other options, I like variation. That's one of the great thing about glades--every run can be different. I don't generally like lapping the same trail. We've had this difference of opinion before, I think in the context of Okemo bashing. You tried to support Okemo some by saying that it does have some good runs, and I responded by saying that even if there are a couple that are fun, I don't want to spend all day on a couple runs.

I have no problem spending a whole day skiing on just a few trails. If they are in good shape and I am having fun I see no need to go elsewhere just for the sake of variety.

Sure, I like a good lapdance as much as anyone... :p

Actually, I am still new enough to the sport that I'm still trying to hone my skills and improve my technique. Due to that alone, I will find a place that allows me to practice and try new things and stick with that until I feel like I'm ready to move on.

One of the things I love about the home mtn. Camelback is that it is really good horizontally. When the mountain is fully open I like to start at one end and ski run combinations across the mountain then back the other direction. There are about 15 ways down. On completion of that I then start to lap the bumps on Lower Cleopatra and/or Rocket. It makes for a pretty entertaining day.
