We are skiing Killington from 3/12-3/16 (M-F), but were looking to do something else in the area for a half day on Sunday afternoon. Are there any (inexpensive) places that sell half day tickets in the vicinity (30min) of Killington?

Thanks:uzi:

unsure about Pico yet. Looks to me like Pico has slow, junky old lifts, which I'm not a fan of. Am I incorrect?

I'd be less worried about the lifts and more concerned with the Mountain itself. Good lifts don't neccessarily mean good runs. Personally, I'd take a rockin' mountain over a fast lift any day.

That being said, what do you think about Pico when compared to the other 6 peaks K offers?

I agree. It never ceases to amaze me that a large number of people spend all day riding a HSQ or other HS lift just because it is "fast" and never explore the other terrain. Sunapee is a good example...folks who did not know the mountain stayed on the HSQ ALL DAY and never tried the other stuff. They missed ut on North Peak and the Sun Bowl and stood in lines.

I go to a ski area for the terrain. Not to ride the lifts. To each his own I guess, but the terrain is what it is all about IMHO.

As for Pico, I claim a conflict of interest. I really like the terrain and the atmosphere and I don't want to send too many folks there to ski my snow  But with that said, if you are going for terrain, it's hard to beat Pico IMHO. Good variety and no crowds.

Are the lifts old? Yeah. But they are not that much better at Killington. So if you want to ride lifts, go to Killington. If you are going to ski/ride great terrain, then consider Pico.

Pico has two HSQ that service most of the terrain and some older fixed grip chairs. With great terrain, no lift lines and fast lifts at Pico, it amazes me that others will flock to other mountains with long lines, expensive tickets and average terrain that is skied off.

Oh - cool, thanks ozzy, that sounds good. Maybe we can check out Pico for half the day on 3/11. Do you know how much sunda half tickets are? We are college students if that makes a difference.

For the full day? Nice. We don't have to buy a "Pico Card" type of membership thing for a fee first, do we? Just show our ID?
