What ever happened to the amazing Asolo Globaline boots? I own a pair of those indestructable heavy backpackers and came to the realization a few years back that they were Asolo's swan song. When searching for a new pair (for my wife) I became bitterly disappointed that Asolo had discontinued the design.

Does anybody have a suggestion for a suitable replacement for the Globaline? They have to be alpine tough and nearly hike on their own.

The Globaline was a specific boot that ASOLO made. It was and still is amazing, but they do not make it anymore. The boot was a heavy backpacking boot made for summer alpine backpacking routes. They were just a hair shy of a true alpine/mountaineering boot
with heavy leather instead of a thermo-plastic shell, a 3/4 shank, and they were not crampon compatible. The boots had "built-in roll" which made hiking with a heavy pack almost easy and they were also lined with Gore-Tex. The high-topped boots were a good two inches taller than the average hiking boot with a torsional brace built into the back side of the ankle.

When my pair wears out, what would you suggest for a replacement? They need to be bomb-proof.
