BARTLETT, New Hampshire — A total of 157 young skiers and riders headed to Colorado for the NextSnow Finals after being selected from more than 70 ski areas across the continent. Attitash Freeride Team member Tucker Perkins, 14, of North Hampton, N.H. did more than go; he was one of the final 25 to be selected for the Sports Illustrated for Kids NextSnow Team.

"That was the best competition I've ever been a part of," said Perkins. "The terrain was sweet. We skied big mountain, slopestyle, halfpipe, moguls and even raced as part of the event."

Perkins was the only skier or rider from the state of New Hampshire selected for the NextSnow team. Another Attitash skier, Chris Andreani, 13, nearly joined Perkins in the final group making it into the round of 50 competitors.

The Sports Illustrated For Kids NextSnow Finals mark the culmination of a series of freeride competitions that have been taking place at U.S. and Canadian resorts throughout the winter. Girls and boys, skiers and snowboarders competed together. Besides their on-snow performance, they were judged on attitude, personality and character.

NBC Sports will air the Sports Illustrated For Kids NextSnow SEARCH Finals from Keystone on Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m. EST. Check your local listings.

Shortly after returning from Keystone, Colo., Perkins won the skier division of the Budweiser Rail Jam at Attitash beating out a field of pros and amateurs of all ages.

"I have my coaches to thank. Doug Albert, Alex Else, Frankie Hennigan, Jake Dube and others have helped me make it to where I am today in skiing. I can't wait to do more comps, and now some sponsors are starting to come calling too," said Perkins.
