I'm not sure about other places, but in nyc, they lease the a lot of the public courses out to a private company that manages the courses. From what I understand, they are extremely successful.

But golf is the everyman's sport.

Skiing is not.

Golf has a far bigger pool of participants to draw from to gather their revenue and profit.

Is the state hoping that by making the investment in Belleayre that the skier participation % will grow?

I would not make that investment.

Beautiful here in Dutchess too.

And they said it would rain.

Mowing the lawn and then some fly fishing in the backyard stream later.

Grillin after that.

Front Page of Daily Freeman, Ulster Legislature chairman David Donaldson urges boycott of Hunter and Windham. Looks like the gloves are off. Next up armed guards between Greene and Ulster county borders . :uzi: Not sure which side Delaware county is on. Can Greene county depend on support from Deleware county? :stirpot: This could get interesting.

wow.... Partisan upstate politics.. I wonder what John Hall thinks about this whole thing..?

Wild stuff... Although I seriously doubt it will do anything...

People I know from Ulster Co. won't stop going to(or stop owning businesses) Hunter.. Not sure about the Windham thing..

I wonder if more people from Ulster Co go to HM or Windham...? If your looking for something like Hunter then I could see doing the drive.. But Windham offers a similar kinda experience to Belleayre - so why bother with the drive?

DMC Typical small town politics that can't be taken too seriously. There is no public data from either Hunter or Windham demonstrating they are loosing skier visit market share and year to year revenue from skier visits/real estate. Until the public gets any meaningful verifiable data, it is hard to get too serious about this debate. The folks in Ulster county want to be good neighbors and I am sure the folks in Greene county want the same. As mentioned on another forum:

"Everybody's pissed and nobody's sure why. Sounds like you guys need a big 'ol barbecue with lots of beers. Party yourselves out of this hole!"
