Hey,
I am taking a trip to the innsbruck area around march 12th for 5 days of skiing. Where would you recommend to go skiing? How far away are kitzbuhel and st anton? Are they worth skiing? I would love to hear any other info regarding hotels and nightlife in the area? Thanks for any info.

You might want to visit www.ski-europe.com, www.goski.com, and www.skiclub.co.uk -- lots of info, especially the first source. We were in Lech in January, I couldn't ski because I had a fractured knee, which I didn't know I had before leaving. Although I couldn't ski it was otherwise a fantastic trip. I've not been to Innsbruck but there are about 6 separate ski areas on the same pass with bus service to the areas. The Arlberg (St. Anton, St. Christoph, Lech, Zuers, Stuben), Ischgl, and Obergurgl are reputed to have the most reputable snow. Kitz is quite low. If I'm not mistaken, the Insbruck ski pass gives one day of skiing at St. Anton -- I believe there is a train. St. Anton and Ischgl are very extensive. Ischgl is in the Tirol and shouldn't be too far from Innsbruck. For 5 days, I'd probably sample the areas near Innsbruck and try to arrange a day trip to St. Anton. Don't know anything about Innsbruck's cafes and bars, but it's a city of 100k plus and by all accounts there's tons of options. We had great food in Lech. Do try the weissen bier and the gluwein (sp?). Much of the info on the ski-europe site is from a book, "Where to Ski and Snowboard Worldwide, the Reuters Guide." Which you can often find in larger bookstores. Have a great trip!

Take a look at this board too:

http://snowheads.com/phpbb/

It's an offshoot of the Great Britain Ski Club so there are many European skiers who can probably help.
