Nature's way of showing that even if there are a lot of folks at Tux, you're not in a ski resort. Those aren't groomers up there, boys and girls. Keep your heads up and don't do anything too stupid.

I saw that earlier today......I think some people forget that even though there can be thousands of people in the ravine, real stuff does happen there and you better be safe. Glad no one was injured, but just goes to show the mountain doesn't care what time of year it is and who's there.

I was actually up there with some friends that day. They'd gotten something like 14" a few days before, and that day (Saturday) was soooooo warm - 56F at the SUMMIT. Rangers were advising people to stay off the headwall entirely due to avalanche danger, and to avoid lunch rocks due to falling ice, but people were all over both all day. There were *three* avalanches that day, all triggered by people, but that one on the video is the only one someone rode out.

It was a really awesome day if you were smart about it, though; the weather was really unbelievably nice. One of the rangers said that something like 4000 people went up that day.

Anyways, here are my pics:

Here's one where you can see all 3 slide paths. The one I have marked #3 is the one from the video:

I wouldnt bring more then a shovel for the bowl this time of year...

Fact is.. the danger was moderate... And i don't like to ride when conditions are moderate...
