I hope there are alot more avalanches..that means it's freaking dumping..you take the good with the bad,,.

Could be your most stupid comment to date. Wind buildup making huge cornices and a warm rainey period are just as dangerous. Circa 1982 JH lost two patrollers one from the wind buildup and another from a two week long Pinapple Express. The mountain was basically closed for most of those two weeks.

The first patroller was a good friend, the wind blew back a hand charge at him on opening day, the other period in February caused a massive slide on Moran Face, the patroller was encased in snow that was like cement, not a usual avalanche area, other slides during that two week period took out the Thunder mid mountain warming cabin(never rebuilt) and one came all the way down to the base stopping right in front of several homes. There was also big winds and the tram had to be evacuated. Getting folks off a chair 20 feet off the ground is hard enough but getting people out of the tram 100 off the ground is something else.

people are being such whiners. You know what he meant, why be so critical. The only part I disagree about the post is that if it keeps dumping like this, and that layer doesn't stabalize then that'll be a truly weak vacation because you wont be able to ride anything.

you all suck

mmk. If he'd said that he hopes it snows more, I'd merely have thought it was in slightly bad taste. What he said was that he wants more avalanches. A thread about a fatal avalanches it not the right place to say you want more avalanches/snow. It's just bad taste. It's an example of when you should think before you post.

If this thread was about how a hurricane had destroyed a town in cuba, would you post here saying you want more hurricanes? You probably would actually.

Next time you go to argue something, make sure your argument makes sense, too. What does speeding have to do with this? Maybe you should sit out the next couple plays.

Baloney. If he had made his post on the funeral home's condolence page, I'd say string him up. Oh, wait, did I just make a racial slur?

Maybe you should lighten up, Francis.

No it doesn't. It means that there is a weak layer in the snowpack and something, snow, skier, or otherwise triggered a slide. I can't believe you said that you hope there are more avalanches. Think about what you say before you say it. Theres been a lot of tragedy this season already and here you are mocking it. Woulda sucked if that was you at JH though huh?

before the latest string (Fernie, CO) it was at three. It's gotta be more than that now, though, maybe double?

and GSS...can't believe you said that.

everyone stay safe out there.

BTW, when I would sometimes drive my Jeep out to WY because I had to haul building materials/tools, people used to ask me about an old "MRG: Ski It If You Can!" bumper sticker I had...

It made them laugh.

I came to understand...

Ballin' skiers at JH understand and sympathize with what we ski and ride back here...I can only imagine what they'd think watching the ski patrol show segments shot at Blue. Many of my 'friends' see us as the King of Queens sort...

GS lived in MT and has skied JH quite a bit. If he wants to root for avi's, who am I to tell him he's an asshead? I'd just prefer none of them wipe out my property or the horse that doesn't seem to belong to anyone.

As someone who lost a good friend last summer to the human form of Mad Cow disease....pray for the plane or shuttle bus crash

...for real, Mad Cow is a horrible way to go

1. Are you trying to say that the fact that we have less vert here on the east coast is somehow an explanation? Again, try and say things that make sense.
2. He's skiied alot and lived in Montana. And therefore...he has license to say completely insensitive things? Again, try and say things that make sense.

nobody who skis seriously wishes there are more avalanches. people are dead, show some respect.

+1

So what you're saying is that if no one is around to hear him say insensitive things then it is ok? Well I take offense to it. So there. This thread was about how unfortunate it is that these people are dying, how we all need to be careful while traveling in avalanche terrain, etc. And you've turned it into this with your defense of GSS's comments. Again, try and say things that make sense. Defending him really makes no sense. I'm sure he can do it for himself.

Shit..the one time I joke about Mad Cow disease..sorry...should I just quit posting??? I'm always going to post what I want to say even if it's offensive..sorry..it is what it is..

I guess we'll just have to accept that. Since we know you're not gonna stop posting :p. The thing I'm reacting to is Ski9's continued defense of you. If you're gonna post like that, I imagine you expect you'll get responses like you did. Why Ski9 takes exception to us saying you were in bad form is beyond me.

I guess this is what a couple days of warm weather and rain does to us. Now let's get back to snow.
