I hope there are alot more avalanches..that means it's freaking dumping..you take the good with the bad,,.
Could be your most stupid comment to date. Wind buildup making huge cornices and a warm rainey period are just as dangerous. Circa 1982 JH lost two patrollers one from the wind buildup and another from a two week long Pinapple Express. The mountain was basically closed for most of those two weeks.
The first patroller was a good friend, the wind blew back a hand charge at him on opening day, the other period in February caused a massive slide on Moran Face, the patroller was encased in snow that was like cement, not a usual avalanche area, other slides during that two week period took out the Thunder mid mountain warming cabin(never rebuilt) and one came all the way down to the base stopping right in front of several homes. There was also big winds and the tram had to be evacuated. Getting folks off a chair 20 feet off the ground is hard enough but getting people out of the tram 100 off the ground is something else.
