Anyone know what conditions are like up at the BEast? Considering a trip up tomorrow night, should I bring skis or ice skates? According to their website all trails are open?

I was there this past Tuesday 2/10 & conditions were firm, to say the least. They haven't had any new natural snow since 1/28-1/29 & they could certainly use some. On Tuesday, all trails were not open so I'd be suspicious that they are all open now without any new snow.

The groomed trails were pretty nice but anything ungroomed was frozen with crust & death cookies everywhere. If all you're looking for is groomers, then its worth going for. If you're expecting something else, you'll be disappointed.

I say all of the above as a BEast fan who loves the mountain. But current conditions are firm due to the recent weather we've had & you asked what conditions are like there. I gotta be honest.

No arguments here about probable condition (rain followed by 1.5 days of cold and high winds = "hardpack"!)

As for open trails-I think Jisch said he was coming at night so all normal night trails will be open.

I skied on Tuesday as well-Every Trail (including glades) was open except liftline (which had melted down) and Competition-but that was because of High School state individual racing that day.

Blizzard Island and East Glades will still be open this weekend-but that's probably it for the off-piste.

Skied Sat, Sun and Monday at the beast and the skiing was very good, better each day.

They did make new snow. Groomers are all in excellent condition. Glades closed, no bumps to be found. (Blizzard Island and East Glades were not open any of the days.)
