As usual, I know nothing about the green trails below Overlook Lodge...

Virtually no lines at Lift 7 and Tomahawk. There was a tiny bit of a line at Superchief.

The snow was good spring-like skiing the entire day.

I didn't ski Roaring Brook or Onondaga. O yea, Roaring Brook is open. No indications that any blowing was going on this week on the Belleayre web site. So much for anyone updating that conditions report accurately....

Wanatuska was fine in the morning.

Onteora's bumps were fun, and have grown quite large.

Lower Utsayantha was the second best snow on the mountain in the PM, after they opened it to the general public. (All racers in the AM.)

One had to take the shuttle to ski Dot Nebel, open from midstation only. That was the best snow on the mountain. Fast GS skiing, with air available if you hit the undulations just right.

I would say I got at least 25 runs in, 9 AM - 2:45 PM minus an hour on the deck for lunch. Yea, it was warm enough to sit the deck in just a fleece vest for lunch. I JUST WISH THOSE PEOPLE WOULD STOP SMOKING ON THE DECK!

more caps: WE NEED SOME SNOW. no... actually WE NEED A FRIGGIN' NOR'EASTER! ...but there is NOTHING in the 10 day forecast!

2007 snow drought ended just before MLK Day weekend with a dump. Not looking like that is going to happen :(

Checkout this article. Only 11% of USA has snow. Last year at this time it was 46%!

The Mayans Were Right!

Mayans were right, I predict this is just the First of the Twelve Signs.

"The mountaintops shall burst with white & black dragons to avenge the earth and consume all punk poseur snowboarders and stiff lower lip skiers, only the chosen few who did not ski on MLK Day shall be saved."

....Anyhow Belleayre is only great epic skiing when a Noreaster passes, specifically across the glades they have there.

Now ...time to sacrifice my neoprene mask to the snow gods and wear my glove warmers as a talisman. You'll all thank and praise me later.
