Awesome snow conditions at Belleayre today. Snowmakers are making some high quality snow. No lift lines and trails were not crowded. This was probably due to the snow storm predicted for NYC, Long Island, and points further south.

Off the top of the mountain were trails Onondaga (blue groomed), Watatuska (groomed). Mohawk (moguls), Onteora (groomed), and Seneca (whales on top, groomed on bottom). Seneca bottom was groomed but hard, which made for a good foot massage. All lifts opened on upper mountain. Shuttle required to get to Tomahawk lift to ski Seneca. Overall the snow conditions were excellent thanks to the cold nights, which makes for great snowmaking conditions.

Potter Brothers Flex tickets tomorrow Sunday for $23.95

Belleayre 12/20/2009 Sunday

Ditto for the mountain today. They were blowing snow hard to get the two-way connection to Tomahawk lift ready to ski.

Even though it was Potter Bros. Flex day, there were virtually no lines. The southern storm may have kept people away, but my 2:30 drive from central NJ was only an extra 20 minutes this morning. People are probably still shopping today also.

One thing - it felt very cold today. Was maybe 18-25 degrees with wind and no sun. Flat light prevailed afternoon.

Upper parts of trails got icy later - was glad my skis were sharp.

Looks like the next 4 days are going to be excellent snowmaking weather. Look for a lot more trails opening up. Most ski areas should be 90+ percent open by Christmas.

Just to add to thinnmann's post, Sunday they were blowing snow on intermediate trail Roaring Brook off the top. The full length of Roaring Brook should be opened soon. With Roaring Brook and Onondaga that will give them two intermediate blue trails off the top with Roaring Brook the easiest way down.

They were also making snow yesterday on Ridge trail between the top of Tomahawk lift and top of 7 lift and other trails. See snow conditions report.

All the trails and woods are covered with natural snow and the ground is well frozen. If we do get natural 12+ inches of natural snow they should be able to open Utsayantha, Cathedral Brook, and glades which do not have snowmaking. Always nice to get some help from mother nature.
