Considering the short but highly destructive warm spell and rain, the place was in great shape. Were there trenches, ball bearings and plenty of firm snow? Yup. But, a lot of terrain was still open and the snow held an edge just fine. The ball bearings actually hurt if edge angles got too high. Groomers did a fantastic job. No ice boulders like a certain other place on better days.
Bump runs still had bumps. I took a three runs on Winnisook and it was possible to take the bumps at a decent clip if you stayed in the throughs and kept really forward. Any sort of backseat would be punished by a pair of skis that were impossible to turn. The tops were a refrozen mess. My knees could only take so much - and I don't have bad knees.
Something was going on near lift 7 around midday. They closed the lift, stopped all upper mountain snow making and there was a groomer removing all the snow from the surface. Hope it's a lift problem and not a snow making problem.
