Belleayre Mountain, December 3, 2007:
Introduction: Got up there at around 11:30, no cars at all, maybe 30 including people who worked there?.
Weapon of Choice: Endeavor Colour 156
Conditions: The storm really did a number on the conditions up at Belleayre. The base didn't seem to take that big of a hit, but everything was icy. Up at top where the snow was the most windswept, it was one huge sheet of ice, and my edges really took a beating all day. Onteora and Wanatuska were open from the top down, moguls on the upper sections, and Mohawk from mid-station down. Spent most of my day on the mid-station downs working on my switch riding. Everything else was just too icy to enjoy. Came inside for lunch at 2, got some curly fries and... um, checked out the greenery across the street on the mountain facing Belleayre... where that old resort is (Owl's Nest?).... Not trying to give away my sesh spot but that's where I was. Came out with a fresh outlook on the day, but realized it still sucked. Whatever, messing around switch was fun though. The moguls on Onteora were pretty nice until they got just way too icy, but you could find some nice lines. Wanatuska was another story. It was like the topography of the Catskills on the trail. No lines whatesoever, huge mounds of snow all over the place, a real mess. Was probably one of 3 people on the mountain past 3. Really cool feeling, seeing no one on the trails or the lifts. But then the novelty of it wears off, and you just remember how much the conditions suck. Luckily I was snowboarding with a bunch of friends so that made up for the conditions, I probably would have left otherwise.
Weather: Windy as all hell.
Lifts: Ski on.... all day.
Notes: Belleayre started blowing on the crossover from Superchief to the lower mountain, and either Onondaga or Roaring Brook, I couldn't really tell. Good to see they are recovering quick.

Conclusion: Jealous of Vermont's 2 feet of snow.
