HIGHMOUNT, New York -- The Belleayre Ski Center is open for the season. Mother Nature finally sent the needed cold weather to the Northeast, along with five inches of natural snow over the weekend enabling Belleayre to begin its 60th season bringing affordable winter recreation to the residents of New York and beyond.
The old adage in the Catskill Mountains is that winter cannot start until the streams are full. Torrential rainfall last week filled the streams and the cold air poured in immediately after. Since then, the snow guns have been firing around the clock, blanketing the trails with an abundance of new snow. And each night, enough snow will be made to open more trails and varying terrain to skiers and riders so check in every day to find out what's available for your winter enjoyment.
For customers who purchase an early season lift ticket this week, Belleayre is offering a Buy-One, Get-One late season lift ticket, redeemable after March 13, 2010 through the remainder of the season, to show that we appreciate our early season customers.
This Friday, December 11th is our first Skier Appreciation Day of the season offering skiers and snowboarders $25 lift tickets and that ticket is a late season BOGO as well. That breaks down to two days of skiing and riding for only $12.50 per day.
The U.S. Marine Corps will be here at Belleayre collecting toys for less fortunate families with its annual Toys for Tots drive this Saturday, December 19th and we are doing our part by offering discounted lift tickets to the first 200 people who donate $10 or a toy of equal value or more.
Santa will also be on the mountain Saturday, December 19 from noon to 1 p.m. for your holiday photos. Afterwards, he will join the Beast of Belleayre on the slopes for some skiing.
Sunday, December 20th is the first day of Hanukkah so join us in the Garden Room of the Overlook Lodge to celebrate the Festival of Lights. The ceremony begins at 12 noon, with refreshments served.
