Agreed; I went against this rule at Wildcat in early April and followed tracks I found into the trees. I was lucky and they were all made by locals who knew where they were going.

But I also had a little map that Andy (NHPH) sent me last year showing me a few spots to check out. So I went to those areas, found the tracks, and followed them. So I wasn't going in totally clueless.

Me and Austin found that following tracks can lead to 25 minutes of bushwacking 25-30 steeps:

that lead to steeps such as these:

Ive followed tracks and hit gold and also hit a wall of trees. Either way it was more fun than sticking to the same on-piste trails Ive ridden a bunch of times before anyway. Besides, when you do find that hidden gem, it more than pays off the 20 minutes you lost the other day trying to find it.

Eatski, that looks awesome! Talk about steep... pictures don't usually do a run's pitch justice either...

I'd say it got as steep as 40 degrees, with every turn your slough (I think that is how you spell it) would keep flying down the line.

is that a mono ski?? and if so, isn't that tough off-piste if there's traversing involved?

We purposly confuse the tracks to some of our more "hidden" spots...

We always skied up to get to "Ohh Phucque". Pulling someone out of there is seriously technical. I didn;t really like trying to ski it, never mind hauling some sucker out of there.

"I'll show you. I won't tell you."
