I use mostly Accuweather only because that's what the Forcastfox extension for Firefox uses. They all seem to be pretty similar to me...

I used to use the firefox extension, but man sometimes Firefox gets locked into some sort of loop that takes a hold of like 75% of my processor power and have to kill firefox to get it to release...I figured it could be that extension so I removed it...didnt seem to help, but DID make it happen a LOT less often...Who knows...but I got rid of that plugin..

I use NOAA, since that's where all the data everyone else uses comes from, anyway. Some of the forecast discussions are funny, as an added bonus. Plus, I'm not a fan of Accuweather's political affiliations.

Does their political affiliation effect the way they give the weather reports?? Just curious? I mean is there a political nature to the way they report the weather??

I understand choosing not to listen/watch/patron a place that has different political views, but cannot see how it may or may not effect a weather report...like you said..they are just restating what NOAA has given them...

no offense meant...just wondering ;-)

They donate a lot to a particular person's campaign, and I don't like that person's views. Therefore, I will not visit their site and add to their ad revenues. Plus, Accuweather tried to make NOAA stop giving out weather information for free, since it ate into their site traffic. I don't like them, and I won't give them my page views. Instead, I will access ad-free what my tax dollars pay for, anyway.

Guys, I'm not sure how politics got into a thread about the weather, but I can assure you all I will not let this thread go any more political than it already has.

BTW, I'm a big NOAA fan myself. Love the weather band in my Subi.

Thank you...just wondered...and that was a great explanation...thanks also for not mentioning who it may be as that couldve cause this to be considered "political" and I wouldnt want it locked by the mods...

Thanks again...happy weathering.... :D

yeah no I just truly wondered...that's all...thought the comment was "interesting"....

I still dig weatherunderground..... That guy that does the Killington Reports...hmmm cant remember his name....but his reports are good and his forecasting is pretty good too....

NOAA is good, but i find it "sanitary" maybe..."more complicated"...im basically a dolt though... ;-)

Intellicast uses some filters on their radars that filter out a lot of noise that shows up around the physical radar location on NOAA maps. Their Taunton radar always displays lots of noise on the base reflectivity.

So I check intellicast if I'm in a hurry, but I will use NOAA/NWS if I'm looking more in depth. Occasionally I use WU because it is user friendly. For weather in general I like all the maps and data NWS provides, and like my evil alter ego pointed out, everyone uses their data anyhow.

I usually look to Intellicast for wind predictions though.

I use weather underground for a radar during the summer. It provides a very good zoom in and an update every 5 minutes. I can literally see my road so I know exactly where everything is. In the winter whenever there's a rain/snow line in effect, I use intellicast. For my forecasts, I just use noaa.
