Best Snowboarding in New England

Hey, I'm trying to figure out the best snowboarding mountains in New England and try to figure out which pass is worth getting this winter. I usually have the Stratton, Okemo, Sunapee pass, but I feel like I want to change. If anybody know of any other amazing mountains or passes let me know

Where do you live? What type of drive are you willing to do? What type of terrain do you like? Any other considerations aside from the actual boarding (price, lodging, nightlife, etc.)? (I ski not board, but I figure all of this info will be necessary to give a good recommendation.)

It depends.

What did you like/dislike about your old pass and those mountains?
What type of terrain are you and your mtn buds into?

My recommendation would be to try them all, several times. My general piece of advice is to follow the snow and the more you drive the better it gets but that depends on where you live too --

Well I definitely am not considering Mad River Glen because we're all snowboarders, but I'm from boston and looking at around a 3 hour drive. My group rides everything. Some are decent, so we need fun intermediate runs, but I want a good park and mostly fun long advanced runs. My favorite mountain so far is probably Sunday River because of their Lolapalooza run and other small cliff jumps and rocks that you can mess around on.

Our old pass worked well because we jsut switched between Stratton and Okemo every sunday when we would go and it was only 3 hrs away. Also it was around 279 for a college student pass, so it was sick. I jsut started boarding 3 years ago and I love hard runs because I board all the time, but i dont know many otehr mountains besides those three and sunday river. Also we are again looking for somehtign pretty cheap

well, if you like Sunday River, their pass gets you Sugarloaf and Loon as well. No shortage of variety between all three of those areas.

I'm not sure what their college pass price is, but their regular adult pass prices are some of the best deals around for what you get.

I don't ride the park much(ok, at all besides the S jumps), but supposedly Loon has one of the better ones in NH... I had the Loon/Sugarloaf/Sunday River pass for several years, and its definately a good pass to get.... Mount Snow has a great park too supposedly, but I'd consider the mtn intermediate and difficult runs short....

From Boston, northern VT, and northern Maine have more of the advanced terrain in my opinion but youre lookin at 3+ maybe 4 hours usually... Hit Cannon on a snowy tues/thurs for half-price for some great terrain...

I think Stratton and Okemo put a lot of $$ into their parks -- so you may go down a notch in that department wherever you choose -- but I think most mountains 2+ hours north of Boston will have better terrain than those...

Well, sounds like with your preferences and the fact you live in Boston I would hit up the Boyne College Pass. Long advanced runs at SL, very good parks at Loon and SR. And of course you get all the in between.

Whiteface has vert, no annoying flats, a 22 foot superpipe with its on lift, boardercross course, decent park. No traverses really at all. Always thought it really was a great hill for boarders. Big vert usually meant longer runs and overall less strapping in and out over the course of a day.

Loon has a shitton of people AND icy conditions. But its only 1.5 from Boston so it must be good.

They do have a badass wallride (or at least used to when I had a pass there back in the day) that was pretty cool.
