Big Boulder in the Poconos has been blowing snow around the clock and they are opening at 4PM on Friday..tickets are 25 bucks..but are free with the donation of 10 cans of food or an unwrapped toy valued at more than 10 dollars..Lots of PASRs will be in the house..I'm expecting alot of runs to be open by then due to the SMI tower mounted guns..which really pump out the snow..Big Boulder is only a tad over 400 vert so there isn't much terrain to cover..

Oh and I'll try to bolt out work early Friday to make it....

I'd like to hang out for the entire session on Friday..just bring your ski clothes with you to work and zip right up there..Yes I will be jibbing something..I will be on my twintips again and I plan on beating on them pretty bad..Big Boulder is definitely gonna have some butter boxes set up..I expect Friday night to be a bit of a shitshow at Big Boulder..I'd also like to hit Big Boulder at least one morning during the weekend. Hitting the Killington opening day, Big Boulder opening day and then the Blue opening day will be great. The Big Boulder trail is totally legit. I've lapped that with Ski9, Gorganzola, TP4, VTMark and AtomicSkier..it's only 400 vert but the lift is direct so a dozen runs an hour is very do-able..4 minutes up..1 minute down(more like 20-25 seconds..no runout so you better have a good Hockey Stop..lol..or you'll go right into the snowmaking lake..

FunFact...the base of Big Boulder is higher than the summit of Blue mountain..which was featured on TruTVs Ski Patrol...

Now I just need to buy 10 cans of food..I always bring food to canned food days that I would eat..not 10 cans of string beans..I'm getting soup, applesauce, and Spaghettios..

You need a helicopter..getting to Mid-County sucks from where you are..I like the fact that they offer night skiing right off the bat. I sort of wish Peaks bought Blue mountain as well..then Blue would be opening this weekend..

as a kid who grew up in Philly and having spent countless trips to the Poconos to ski, I think it's friggin' fantastic to see places opening up this early with what appears to be some decent coverage ... go get it and enjoy it!

The cool thing about this cold spell is that it's cold everywhere..on the ice coast..Some seasons Vermont has a few runs open in November but we don't have our WROD until mid December or even later a few times..The stoke market continues to rise..

Awesome news but I hate the hours though. Since Frost isnt open yet it would be nice if they opened with daytime hours too until they got Frost opened then shifted to night only hours mid week once they open Jack Frost. I'll probably be there Sat maybe Sun.

The hours are like that because most of the people who will be up there early season are teenagers. I'm glad they're opening in the evening Friday because I wouldn't be able to make a morning opening..

If someone's mom here can drive, my mom will pick up ;).

PM TTC6 he'd probably carpool with you frpm the Philly area and maybe you could rent a ski house with him at Split Rock..right between Jack Frost and Big Boulder..you can get back to your Pocono roots..
