It's always interesting to walk into the place at 90, in minimal clothing boot backpack and snow equipment in your hands. We (when my son comes home) try to bag a day where we snow ski early as possible then go up to the lake an get in a water ski.

Still can't post pics.
It's like playing in a Mens Hockey League in the summer...
Nothin better than a cool rink when it's still 85-90 in the city at night...

We used to hold a "Maine Triathalon"
Bumps on White Heat.
Water skiing on Long Lake.
Golf at Bridgton Highlands.
Always made for a fun day :)

Skied for 1.5 hours, probably at least 15 runs. I timed the lift ride at 2:40 and the run down is generally 25-30 seconds.

A lot of the snow is very slow. Not necessarily sticky, but almost like you're skiing on sand instead of snow. This was especially evident at the bottom where you really had to slog through the line to get back to the lift. Saw multiple people unloading a can of WD-40 on their board before each run.

The main slope was pretty slow top to bottom, and after a couple runs I ended up skiing underneath the Poma which had much harder packed and faster snow. I spent pretty much every run the rest of the session skiing this same line, and kind of got a nice groove going. It only really lasted about 8 turns but it was maybe kind of fun?

Sitting at the bar with a beer now and it feels like I actually used my ski muscles today. Kind of feels good. On my way to PA for summer vacation now. Glad I stopped. I'll be going to the Jersey Shore in 3 weeks so I think I'll definitely stop on the way down and get some more runs in and log an August day.

Tons of never evers at that place. Quite a few butt turtles as well.

When I first walked in I was like wow there's a lot of employees here because I saw logo jackets everywhere. Then I realized they were almost all rental jackets.

That sounds like fun this time of year but I think I would be crazy to drive from Vt to NJ to ski in the mall for 2 hrs

Warren Miller 75 email came out tonight, and this place is (laughably) one of the featured segments.

How much do you think that cost?

I'll set the over/under at $100,000.

Well, to be fair they did a segment in Ski Dubai when that dome opened up years ago now. Even had the talent riding Camels in the desert with their skis strapped on.

Why don't they keep those moguls up all year round! That would actually make this place really awesome & more than just a place to ski with kids. I got my August day in on a trip to Giants training camp. Just wish I knew about the moguls day or else I would have planned it better. Spending a summer day skiing and going to the mall is actually awesome. Is it skiing Mad River Glen? No. But it's August and Jersey is an easy drive.

IMHO, Big Snow is an awesome place to go to teach someone to ski especially little kids. Get your kids up to speed a few times at Big Snow and it will make your ski trips with them WAY better. When they 1st opened in 2019, I got my 5 year old skiing on his own there before the season started. It was awesome.

Also highly recommend going to Ugly Donuts and Corn Dogs after skiing Big Snow. Their hot cheetos corn dog is absolutely amazing.

I'm glad they ramped up the mogul schedule a bit. I was annoyed when they switched from "last weekend of each month" to just doing them on holiday weekends because I don't want to be driving anywhere near NYC on a holiday weekend in the summer. But I would definitely consider one of those September weekends for sure, and it's cool that they increased it to twice per month.

My daughter loves to eat at Jollibee (a Filipino fast food chain) after skiing. Yesterday we went to the H Mart food court that had it's soft opening and had some really good Korean food.

Eh? Traffic is this area of NJ is pretty insignificant on holiday weekends in the summer. Many people leave this area to go places (i.e. down the shore or to the Poconos, etc). Don't know how NYC itself is, but Big Snow isn't in NYC so it doesn't really matter.

By NYC I really mean CT traffic. It's a disaster pretty much every Friday and Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day and even worse on holiday weekends.

I've never had problems with Jersey whether on holiday weekends or during rush hour unless there's a crash. The turnpike typically flows great in my experience.

Thank you to who ever posted the mogul dates. Will probably try to hit the early Saturday morning sessions on those weekends. Lucky enough to live close enough to the Meadowlands to make at least 5 sessions leading into the season which would be nice. Much more fun with a line of moguls up.

So as I agree with my son and the break between seasons for us is September 1st (this weekend) looks like the up coming season could be a mere 2 weeks away:) Have questioned in the past whether these "skiing gym sessions" should count and have come to the conclusion if the skis are on the snow, they count.
