Good point...I bet they get pissed over typos and transpositions.

A whole 35 hours? I work a minimum of 50.

Office hours are 8:00AM-3:00PM...I occasionally have an evening or Saturday appointment but most of my customers are retired or flexible with their schedules when picking out and designing a monument. I begin at 7:00AM on delivery days..As for typos and what not..the customer signs off on a proof..before any engraving is done..There have been times when a customer gives us the wrong date information..and we draw up the proof..they sign off on it..we complete and install the monument...then some relative relaizes that the person who purchased the monument F#cked up and we either replace the monument at the customers expense or do a fill in job which looks like crap.

See, even a postwhore thread can be informative. I'm learning all kinds of stuff about the monument biz :)

Well I've learned alot about currancies, oil prices, and precious metals from your Avatar. Wow I'm psyched to go to work tomorrow. Last week I sold a bunch of monuments and after looking at the Obituaries..this next week is going to be busy as well...Holla..Hey whatever gets me that house in Jackson Hole..lol

I'd give up both tadpole generators for a place in Teton Village.

Yep, I recently heard some comedian use that term, lol. Dude, when my mom-in-law passes along, the world is our oyster. NM, UT, WY, ID, CO, upstate NY are def on the list for 2nd home or relocation.

So you live in Philly mainly because of your Mother in law??? Is Dr. Kevorkian still around?

At this stage of the game, yeah. I sold my businesses so my ties are minimal other than friends. Even if we moved, we'd prolly keep the house here, unless we eventually build one on our land a few miles away. Were in a holding pattern for now. The more time I spend learning and travelling thru the ADK, the more I'm drawn to eventually moving there.

People not living in CT or PA wouldn't truly appreciate those pics, Greg, unless it was August...

We were lucky to have new owners bringing the philosophy of 'make snow and people will come', even at the expense of other needed upgrades (such as new lights). You could still ski a decent ribbon down one of the diamonds up until two weeks ago.

Just wait until they install the powerfull new snowmaking system on the Northface(still basically all old school stuff over there - some new tower guns-not fan guns- excluded) and get the extra water. May skiing on the Northface would be no problem then, with downloading likely needed via the grand summit express (or whatever the likely new summit 6 pack will be called ina few years :) )

Hi ski9,

I think WL is pretty much covered as far as installing Pole Cats...they had a 6'+ base at the top of the headwall and continued to make skiing it very uncomfortable with eight guns blasting away.

Not that it was really a bad thing.

While other ski areas were squeezing out some manmade Thursdays and Fridays, then letting the tourists have peace and quiet and snowplow around without wiping their goggles once, Carlson blew the f*ck out of the place every minute the temps allowed, right through busy weekends. There were plenty of Saturday afternoons with the lodge filled with people in ice encrusted Starter jackets, wondering when the hell the things that make snow were going to be turned off.

For that, he became my hero. Midweek nights were heaven...groomed cord down a Pocono black diamond on a Wednesday at 9pm? Yep. Or, that two inches of manmade dust over the freshly groomed cord.

(Eh, I'm a race dad and adult league race hack who takes powder days off to work on my edge bevel)

Anyway, we could have skied Sno into May this year. Word was that finances were right where they had hoped, so maybe they'll keep the same attitude toward blowing as much as possible. Sno certainly took Elk's claim of the best snow in PA away. With closed diamonds and grass poking up in lots of spots at Elk during the 10 day warm spell, Sno was edge to edge and in midwinter conditions.

We had a thread at another MB regarding the #1 thing a ski area in the Poconos should do to increase skier visits and I really think you just start with amazing snow. And, apparently, that was Carlson's plan from the start. Next year, though, they have to expire season passes in April and sell $10 passes for the North Face to everyone until the snow is gone in mid-May.
