I was there this past season, I think it's a great idea. I do not like the tram because; 1. they pack people in like sardines. 2. There's usually a long wait. Since the tunnel was built, I would even consider the tram.

And this is what the tunnel leads to:

Thanks for all of those shots!

I haven't been able to get out to the condo for the last couple of seasons, and I really miss it.

It's that big red, or blue thing they charge you ten bucks more per day to use.

chairs only is a better value than ever! i usually ski the bird on the superpass cause it works out the cheapest(i think 49 last year). i still avoid the tram except for the first couple runs.

Tunnel at Snowbird

My sister-in-law and her family visited us in Draper UT last week. I took my 16 year old nephew up the Snowbird Tram last week. Then we hiked down to the tunnel mouth and over to the Peruvian Chair and took that down to the base. I didn't get a chance to ski it last winter, but look forward to doing so this coming year. Of course, I invited him to come west to stay with us and ski it with me. The entrance was open, and we could look in. Kind of eerie since they had no lights on.

No doubt the addition of this new Peruvian lift makes the choice between getting a chair only vs. tram ticket more interesting.

But I'm a tram guy. I like the speed of that lift, I like the views, I like the sensations, I like the easy options that that few extra feet ( especially on a powder day, because you can't get to the Reg Johnson/Baldy traverses anywhere near as quickly as when you take the chairs, and on the epic drop days that really matters to me ) gives you, and, call me nuts, but I like the tram operator's advisory spiel at the top.

To me it's just another something that makes the 'Bird, the 'Bird.
