I was just [thread="323212"]joking here[/thread], but maybe someone will try to do a "blowing out the mice" PR stunt tonight? I wouldn't put it past Boyne or Peaks to try. Attitash or Sugarloaf seem to be the likely candidates, but it's certainly going to be cold enough at Mount Snow or Sunday River.

In the days of yore, K-mart would be announcing an opening for this week...or very soon at least...no more. :(

There's a freeze warning tonight in the Mt. Snow Valley. I'm betting they'll fire a few of those up.

I checked around and none of the likely candidates plan on doing any sort of test/demo tonight. Those days of pumping us up with some faux snow are unfortunately over it seems.

If we were having these anticipated temps Thursday of Friday night instead of Monday night, I'd bet that we'd see a "blow for show" (thank you Dave Moulton, Mount Snow's Mtn Ops guru for that phrase ;) ) event preceding the peak foliage long Holiday weekend this coming weekend. ;)

In all fairness to Killington, even the first week of October was a bit of a stretch that relied on a really good cold snap. Not sure temps have been conducive to full on snow making even just at night these past few days.

I was surprised to remind myself how often Killington opened the first week of October in the 90's:

Scroll to the bottom. Not saying overnight temps lately were sufficient, but opening the first week of October wasn't out of the realm of possibility in the past.

Why should we be fair to Killington? :) Just kidding.

Looks like October in the 90s was the only time early October skiing happened at K ;) Not out of the realm of possibility but my point was merely suggesting TB's statement might have hinted that it used to be the expectation that ski season would start the first week of October when K went after it.

Nick from Sr posted last week nothing until after fall festival this weekend. Alot of resources going to get South Ridge set up.
After that he said they would be ready. If it got cold enough, does not look like it will.... i would not be surpised by a Friday of Sat night small show of snow making. been done before.
