mount snow says snow flurries where up at the summit this afternoon

I saw that too. And they posted a pic of the golf course? :-?

It's Oktoberfest up there this weekend. Maybe some of the crew will have a few beers and then turn on a fan gun. :spin:

With the cost of energy and the economic outlook for ski areas this year I can't imagine any of the bean counters would be too happy to pay for a "blow for show" PR stunt!

 Oktoberfest

Columbus day long weekend + peak foliage over much of the 'dacks, VT, NH and ME = LOTS of NY/CT/MA/RI license plates and buses of folks across ski country this weekend. And IMHO, Oktoberfest at Mount Snow doesn't hurt either. I'm already thinking about a brat, some potato pancakes and Oktoberfest beers from multiple brewers there this weekend! :)

I noticed that too. I'm guessing that Luke might have something to do with it, and that it will in all likelyhood end up as a featured segment on what will likely be an Oktoberfest version of "Right Arm!"

Atleast the Kids "Weiner Toss" is before the adults so the sober crew will show the not so sober crew how to toss a weiner  ;)

I thought Octoberfest is in September??? It feels like it's time for some Indian summer..the cool weather is sort of pointless with no skiing..

I thought some activities in Europe for October fest do actually take place in Sept. I think I heard that at Loons festival by one of the performers last year

Good point; I'm sure you're right that it'll be taped. I'll watch from a distance.

Yup, it's been confirmed on the Mount Snow passholders site that Luke will be running the Weiner Toss! It's also rumored that he might in a pair of Lederhosen too!

Rod doesn't think too much. Although I do admire is motivation to blow snow before the big boys every year.

Plus it gets him his 30 second clip on all the Hartford area TV stations each year ;)

Generally it seems like the Hartford area stations do the following.

First cold - Woodbury segment

Good Snowstorm - Sundown segment

January Thaw - Mt. Southington Segment (used to go 50/50 with Powder Ridge for this one it seemed like)

Mohawk just plain and simple got ignored by the Hartford stations due to it's geographic isolation ;)
