Date(s) Skied: Saturday, 06-Feb

Resort or Ski Area: Blue Mountain

Conditions: Powder and powder piles

Trip Report: Simply said, my best day at Blue in my short career there. Left the house 5:45AM, got to Blue about 2 hrs later. Took a while to get into Blue because many cars were sliding and stuck on access rd up. Did not hit the slopes until ~8:30; I had to feed son #2 (Blue caf. french toast sticks & OJ :-D ). Blue got ~ 4-6" I'm guessing. We skied our brains out. My Wateas 84s where in their element. Heck, I was even able to avoid looking like my usual bump-tard self in the bumps for the most part. We just kept doing sweeps from one side of the mountain to the other. All runs where pure friggin joy. Stupid fun. When the fresh stuff was all tracked up we had a blast skiing the powder piles. NOT hearing an edge set is an experience we don't get to often.

Quit skiing at 3 PM. My legs where completely shot. Son #2 still wanted more but I had nothing else in the tank.

Best day ever in my short ski carrer. #2 agreed too.

All the pictures I've seen from Blue this year have had snowy trails but the surrounding countryside completely brown and free of any snow. Must be nice to see everything finally covered in the white stuff!

Awesome conditions at Blue today. Work up at 4:30 but didn't crawl out of bed until 4:45 and was out the door around 5:30. I pulled into the lower lot around 7:35 next to NS-Jay. Got 3rd chair. Blasted right down Challenge for my first run. My Jet Fuels rocked it today. Blasted through the pow in the beginning and through the crud piles like they weren't even there. Skied from 8 until noon for a total of 19 runs. Scored 1st tracks down Paradise twice (mid day grooming rocks)!

I took some pics as well...

that's funny. too much snow on the race course.

Glad to see Blue's finest doing what they do best; suppressing fun! Do they use Tasers yet?

Glad you're having a ball. There are gonna be a lot of very tired PAs Monday morning.

Blue scans you pass (day or season) before letting you onto the mountain. They don't start scanning until 8AM.

i don't think i've seen a setup like that for skiing. what about people who aren't skiing like parents? is the lodge "outside" the scan zone?

Yes. There's also benches and a fire pit or two set up outside the scan zone. It sounds silly, but it's actually very effective. It's much better then places that want to scan your ticket every time you get on a lift.
